Actually 1st gear is better with the hand barke on. Thats how I changed my UDPs.
Actually the highest gear you have is the best. First gear multiples torque to the rear wheels, by doing that you can actually move the car by trying to break the crank bolt loose. The highest gear reduces the amount of torque being transferred to the rear wheels.

and 6th gear did it lol bolt is out. I have a puller already and no the CLAW puller wil lnot work on a IW pulley

UPDATE

I got the air jack today and it worked pretty well. Got the car up high enough to get my regular jack under then use the jack stands so the front end is lifted and off the ground.

I got the rest of the wire harness unplugged except for the o2 sensors. I jsut moved the entire thing to the battery box and it is out of the way for now.

I drained the oil. As soon as i took the plug out it started dribbling out at a snails pace. I figured that's not good there's probably some debris blocking the path but i just took a thin eyeglass screwdriver and pushed it in and the oil came flooding out. Might have been the angle of the car, idk. Any ideas on how to filter it? Someone suggested a coffee filter but it doesn't want to go through that. If i kept using the coffee filter method ill be filtering oil for about 6 months. I don't see anything floating in it with my eyes so i guess that's a good sign. nothing shiny when i put the light over it too but it could have sank for all i know or be suspended in the oil somewhere.

Good news is i confirmed there is no hole in the block. I already knew this but it was ncie to see regardless lol

I will remove the drivers side cam cover next, then the Crank pulley. I will then remove the A/C and P/S and hang them out of the way then remove the timing cover and inspect the oil pump.

Any other ideas?

If you follow the oil pan removal procedures in the manual the PS pump and A/C compressor don't need to be moved to remove the oil pan.
You can use an engine hoist in place of the engine bar.

The first place to look for engine damage from lack of oil pressure is the main bearings. The furthest bearing from the oil pump is the most susceptible to damage so look at the rearmost first. If there is nu damage there pull the next one forward. Do one at a time and retorque them to spec since I'm assuming you have ARP hardware.

Thanks peter. I have the doc but i cannot remove the oil pan without lifting or pulling the engine as it is not the stock pan, but a moroso 7qt pan. I was gonig to pull the cam cover first, then check the cam caps, then pull the timing cover and check the oil pump

Yes but this way you can drop the K-Member enough to pull the pan.

hmm. ive never worked on a kmember before. Not too sure how to do that but its a good i9dea. I was thinknig of just pulling the motor and putting it on a engine stand. Would make things a bit easier i think

That's a good idea thanks. Is the screen a fine mesh? I've gotta be able to catch metal particles

The ones I use (Napa Martin Senour) would not catch ultra fine metal but it would be better than nothing. Any automotive paint supply place should have something. You may put a few together and get better results.

it's only 8 bolts holding the K member to the chassis + 2 bolts holding the engine to the K member. Rent or borrow an engine bar or engine hoist for a couple of days.

No I'm pretty sure it was jsut a pressure thing or the angle. if there was something large there the flowing oil would have pushed it back in front of the hole

it's only 8 bolts holding the K member to the chassis + 2 bolts holding the engine to the K member. Rent or borrow an engine bar or engine hoist for a couple of days.

I will be borrowing my friends engine hoist and engine stand. Just gotta tell him when i want it and go pick it up

Update:

Filtered the oil today. Please disregard the piece of a leaf in the photo, my dog got into the garage. I photographed everything that i saw.

My father doesnt think the silver metal piece is bearing material . Hes been in the business for a little under 40 years so i don't question him.

What do you guys think of the results. I used cheese cloth to filter the oil and layered it about 6 times. i picked it apart and this is literally all I found. I am in the process of cutting the oil filter, draining the coolant and removing the timing cover to look at the oil pump now. From the preliminary results of looking at the filter and the hole on the block where it screws to, we dont see any metal particles or shavings so we have our fingers crossed at the moment its the oil pump

Im working on it. Since my last post I've removed the valve covers, water pump, coolant hoses, and all of the timing cover bolts except for 2. I need to remove the PS Pump next to get to those 2 bolts and i need to go buy a swivel socket to do it. I should be looking at the oil pump shortly
