If so, then I've been lucky. I haven't run anything lighter than 10w-40 for the past 3 years (and even ran 20w-50 for about 1-1/2 years).
i was using 5w20 so i doubt its the oil
10w-30 has been good for me and if you have your VCT locked out I think its a good idea.
Ok well here is my next question. Do you think the heavier oil could be acting as a damper for the gears? We would have to find out what oil everyone is running that had a failure and see. I may be stepping up to a 10W30 for the next change and will beat the hell out of it as usual and see what happens. I turn my motor to 6800 - 7000 rpm pretty often and I am wondering if mine will be on borrowed time.
