Yes, the car made 775 to the tire, so BHP is probably something in the 850-875 area.

I admit mine is a garage queen, driven mostly on a nice weekend day, however, it often sees triple digits, tire smoke and 7000 rpm.

I'm not going to apologize for working hard during my adult life, investing wisely, saving and being in a position to afford a garage queen.

I used to make fun of the whole mid-life crisis deal, until I realized something, if one follows the "typical" path, career, marriage, children, your life takes a path that makes somethings higher priority than a car. It's when you're in the mid-late 40s or later, that your obligations become such that you have more disposiable income, hence the car becomes a option. I know when I bought my 06 it was for exactly those types of reasons. The Shelby came later for similar reasons.

Af for the track, I don't take it there as I do not have needed safety equipment for NHRA rules to be allowed to run it. I did take it once and was told by the track owner not to come back w/o a cage.

Wise man.

For sure, or if the car is either too fast, or not safe enough for tech, be limited to single runs until the requirements are met. At least you could get a time-slip without putting anyone else in danger. It's funny to me that you almost need a roll-cage and other substantial equipment on pretty much run of the mill vehicles set up to go quick. A fair amount of A6 Coyotes with the right parts running in the 11's prior to using power adders, and to me, these are pretty damn safe cars at this speed.

Yeah, I was kinda under the assumption that they should be at least somewhat fast, considering they have the holy grail LS engines, but now my opinion of the Camaro, and factory LS engine craze is not too high at all after riding in one.

The 2016 is now faster than the mustang stock for stock. :whistle1:

But it's not really a Camaro anymore... Looks like a last ditch effort... I see another end of production coming...

Like everyone here, the Mustang is more to my taste than the Camaro...but come on. They're pretty freaking amazing.

The LT-1 motor is a gem...and unlike Ford, GM followed through on their promises to shed weight. The '16 Camaro weighs about the same as our S197s...but with a better chassis and IRS.

The S550 is a damn nice car but the new Camaro looks to be superior in just about ever objective measure.

I'll stick with my paid-for S197 and be glad that there are still great V8/RWD pony cars fighting it out in the showrooms.

LT1? That's an archaic engine... The "new" 2016 Camaro gets its advantages because it's sitting in the CTS platform. Call it a rebodied CTS. We all know those CTS-V's are quick little monsters. Small car, big engine? We all know what happens. As for engine superiority? Sure, the old pushrod has bigger cubes and may make more power (not by much), but these 5.0 modulate are damn impressive in what they are doing with the actual size. What about the 5.2 now also? You sound like an LS fan boy that didn't buy the car he wanted.

The Camaro was also pretty much Forced to lose weight. It's always great for a car to shed weight for it's next platform, but the Camaro at it's maximum configuration weighed ~4100lbs . That's ridiculously heavy. The Mustang didn't really NEED to lose weight vs switch to an IRS. I honestly think it was a more of people would buy the S550 with it's current config without losing weight. So from a marketing perspective why would Ford want to put all their eggs in one basket for 2015? They'd rather span out these things across refreshes/changes.

The new motor is also called the LT-1...

Hilarious. Your ignorance about the Camaro shows you are a perfect Ford fanboi.

In the new Camaro, GM did EXACTLY what we all wanted Ford to do for 2015 - offer 450+HP and lose 300lbs. Anyone that is objective will admit that the new Camaro, at least performance-wise, is the car we all want the Mustang to be. Ford's only saving grace here is that the Mustang is a lot better looking. That Cadillac platform with the 5-foot tall doors is just weird looking.

I expect to see some drivetrain changes in the Mustang for 2018. You just can't let the competition steamroll you like that.

Each brand has their own bro... Just here shooting the shiznit. I haven't heard anyone who owns an S550 complain about what ford didn't do to the car that ALL Mustang guys wanted. Only guys I hear complaining are guys who don't own one. I think it's a great car.

I'm sure the Camaro is fast and blah blah blah.... Who gives a fuck? This is a Mustang board... My "ignorance" on the Camaro isn't because I'm really ignorant, it's just that I could give a fuck about the brand and don't have time to sit on my hands to read what that Camaro has, is, or was. All I saw that I cared to read is that it now shares the CTS platform. You ask me, that't cutting corners and giving up. Smart move on them to keep production costs down. Good for them. Car is still ugly.

Thanks for caring enough to gauge out my Camaro knowledge...lol Can we get this thread back on track? Not like that convo was going any better...

Back on track: 5.0 GT's are faster then GT500's because they are only driven by people who dont know how to drive therefore they are slow. Forget the fact that they both share the same chassis and can accept the exact same parts/mods. That would require common sense and we threw that out awhile ago. Also negate the fact that the driver is probably the BIGGEST factor in a race all things being equal. Is that about where we left off on this thread derail?

I'll have to verify, my stang isn't quite stock anymore, but we'll still find out. How do the S550's do compared to 11-14 Coyotes? I do like the way they look, but the irs and added weight aren't for me.

I don't think the op cares at this point.
