My understanding is that the 3b is a little looser than the 2b. The 3b supposedly will allow me to footbrake it better.

So, I'm assuming the base files kind of get you in a ball park of shifting the trans, throttle wise, rpm wise, and firmness. Then the end user ends up tailoring the transmission shifting to their liking based on different situations. So basically I'm going to have to ride around in neighborhoods, highways, and byways trying different situations and then going into the software to adjust and then going back out and trying it again? It was my understanding that the software will also learn? I'm not sure what its learning and if you have experienced that yet?

My t-56 cam out last night and I should be picking the 6r80 up today from an LKQ and then dropping it off to the trans guy. I'm hoping my turbo crossover pipe will clear the 6r80. Thoughts? It looks like it will need to get remade.

Looks like the pipe wont fit ... Pictures are the 6R80 on a 'Yote ..

The 6R doesn't have the gap around the bellhousing like the T-56 and the cooler lines are routed in what little gap there is to the passenger side.

As for the adaptive learning, it's more for the controller to fine tune itself after shift points, converter parameters are set fairly close .. It can be disabled ..

As Stroker, and the guys from Baumann told me, you can adjust the transmission tune file and then load it, IIRC he said the controller stores 3 tune files plus the one your running and you can toggle between them on the fly ...

Yea I'm not so sure it will fit. I think the 6r80 pan and trans are pretty square there and my pipe is more contoured. It shouldn't be too hard to redo that part but to make it work, the pipe will sit pretty low to the ground i'd think.

After dealing with removing the starter around the downpipe yesterday(pain in the ass) I'm almost thinking the oil cooler lines are going to clutter it up even more around there. That is pushing me more and more toward running a B&M cooler on the spare tire tunnel. Thoughts?

If I understand this correctly it will be in 3rd gear when you put it in drive? I'm going to install the trans at a buddies shop. I want to take it home to wire up all of the electronics, so I can take my time. Do you think that 3rd gear will be enough to get the car back on the trailer?

Circle D also ended up deciding to give me a 3b instead of 2b. I have 3.55 in the car now and am going to try them out before making the switch.

Sorry I haven't been on here in a couple days but yes you can pull it onto a trailer. It's designed to limp you home in 3rd gear only if something happens. Ford also does this with the TB. If it fails it will go to a certain blade position and hold. It will idle rough but it's open enough to limp you home.

Also on the flexplate, I have a 5.4 with an 8 bolt crank. I went with a Coyote SFI plate because the other GT500/6R swaps were using it. There is more clearance with this plate. I do not know of its necessary.

I also used the 11 shifter and added the 13-14 handle like Billy stated. The connector plugged in which allows the lights to work but the select shift wiring was all custom. I got the shifter with my 6R or I would've probably done the 13-14.

Thanks Mike

Pics Needed:

Does anyone have any more pics of the shifter mounted. I saw one of Mikes from a while ago. I just got a 13 V6 shifter in today from LKQ and this thing looks huge. Actually any and all pics of the swap would be nice.

I'm hoping to mount it on Friday. I will also be mounting the B&M Trans Cooler and the Autometer 9117 in preparation.

I have the DSS shaft, PA Dipstick, PA shifter cable bracket and a few other things in my hands already.

The shifter will bolt right in,however you will have to cut the console top. The new trim ring will cover the cup holder. I made a matching trim peice to cover my cup holder for now until I decide what I want to do.
Thanks Mike

Thanks for the pic Mike. My shifter has drive and S. It doesn't have 1 2 3 like yours. It also has a little change holder area behind the S. Does the back of the shifter sit higher than the front.

You have a 13-14 shifter. I used 11-12 shifter and swapped handles. It is taller in the back as the 11-14 console have a rise to them that the earlier cars didn't. It doesn't bother me and I'm pretty picky.

OK cool, thanks for the input. I think the only thing I haven't ordered is the trim piece that goes around the shifter.

Did you use stock hardware to bolt the shifter into place?

Edit: Since my car didn't initially come with an auto I didn't have the hardware for the shifter. I found out that the front bolts are M6-1x20mm and the nut in the rear is an M6-1. I'm going to pick them up at a local hardware store.

If you give me a list of the shots you want, I can get them from mine while its still on stands tomorrow. It should be back on the ground tomorrow afternoon and on the road Sunday. My kids car is doing pretty good and we are working on WOT tuning for the trans now. I have the shifter bezel and everything 100% on his car now. Just need to put a toggle switch in for his select shift. LMK what pics you need.

How about some shots of the bracket for the shifter cable, shifter mounting and if the center console needs to be trimmed. I may be getting a truck trans and need to fabricobble a cable bracket. I need to sell my 5r55 parts... (Circle D converter, TCI solenoids, hardened input shaft and deep pan...)

I did mount my shifter yesterday it really raises up high in the back. I also mounted my Trans cooler on the back spare tire area. Where did you guys mount the autometer and quick 6? The connector on the back right of the shifter, does anyone have a schematic of that? Lkq cut that harness but I extended it in case I needed to use it. I've never been auto so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my clutch pedal yet. I've read zip locking the clutch switch down and removing the pedal. Thoughts?

I have our units in the glove box for now to allow easy access. After Im done tuning I am going to ziptie it to the right of the glove box behind the small removable panel at the side of the dash. Depending on your year of your pcm, you need to ground either pin 30 or 39 on connector C175e for the clutch switch, it should be pin 30 on your 06'. Here is the shifter wiring diagram.

Also the shifter does not look bad once the trim ring is installed. IIRC we had to trim the console about a 1/2" at the rear of the shifter. I will be doing mine today and can take pictures and measurements.

Thanks that would be great. Once it's all said and done, I really would like to compile yours, mikes, mine and others into one thread that gives all the info right away, part numbers and necessary information. This thread is hugeeee.

IIRC he isn't using a bracket since he has mustang tansmissions. I however am using an f150 trans. I purchased the PA bracket from jegs for mine. I'll take pics when it is all mounted up.

The tach adaptor is waterproof. You can mount it under the hood. Mine is mounted behind the right headlight so no one can see it. My Quick 6 will be in the glove box. I am convinced that there is no good place for it. I use my glove box.
As for the clutch pedal switches, you need to look at the wiring diagram for your year car. There are two switches. As mentioned, one will need to be grounded by the controller or have a relay wired to preserve the neutral safety. The Quick 6 user manual has the info you need. The second switch will need to be jumped (cut and solder the wires together) to preserve the cruise control. Do it right and buy a brake pedal assembly from an automatic car (I got mine from ebay for $40). Your not seriously considering using a zip tie to hold the clutch pedal switch down, are you?

Haha no I just haven't even looked into the clutch pedal yet. Why the brake pedal? Why is that doing it right over the brake I have, just curious.

The guys at Bauman told me to wait to buy the controller until I was basically ready to drive in case there was a new firmware update.

The auto pedal is a little wider and slightly more left of the throttle pedal. You could leave the clutch pedal in the car but then you would have three pedals (one of which just flops around) in an automatic car. If you want to just remove the clutch pedal from your assembly, it doesn't just slide off of the brake pedal assembly.
When did Baumann tell you that? I received my replacement controller 2 weeks ago. I am told it has the most recent firmware.
