Was gonna try and check it again but ended up messing around with a mark 7 gti and forgot

Having tires that are a smaller diameter would cause that issue.

Fml I just hopped out and read the placard sticker. 235's and I have 255. You win.
Can't believe it, I thought I checked that when I put air in the tires after I bought it last month.
Edit: mine are bigger than the recommended size tho?

If your odometer was off, your speedometer would probably be off too. are you passing alot of people, or getting honked at or tail-gated constantly in this car while driving near the speed limit?. Also using your gps, see how the speed compares between the car's speedo, and your gps.

Not really TBH. I do feel like I'm going slower than the speedo says tho. And I'll try again tonight after work

And on top of that I completely read the wrong numbers rushing into work. 235/50/18 is on the sticker. I read the width lol I have 255/45/18s on the rear. That must be it.

.4 miles in the 16 mile drive to work, one way.

Tire size is most (but not all) of it. .4 miles in 16 is a 2.5% error. Going by tire revs/mile, your newer tires turn 774/762 times as fast as the originals (I'm using a BFG 235/50-18 for the 762 and a corrected revs/mile factor for 27.1" tall tires to get 774 here). That's 1.6%, which leaves about another 1% to things like tire softness, speedometer calibration and GPS errors . . . and I'm guessing your MT Street Comps probably being a slightly softer tire [than my average correction factor accounts for] is about half of that.

That would be .8 miles just daily driving to work, x5 days a week. Then however many work weeks thru out the year would add up easily.

There are about 250 working days in a year, plus a few if you work weekends, minus a few for vacations and other time off. Call all of that a wash, so you're only looking at a 200 mile/year inaccuracy. 12.5 commuting round trips. One tank of gas. Zero effect on resale value. Not worth obsessing over.
