I have to bring this up, i understand the v10 has a split pin crank, but its forged. Why has no one build a nasty turbo v10? They are dirt cheep online.

I remember years back one of the mustang mags put a 2V V10 into a new edge and they couldn't even mount a hood on it. Probably have a hell of a time finding an exhaust manifold setup that would work too since they were only in trucks.

Ford built a mule with a 2v v10. It was pretty badass but it never made it to production. Ive seen a few swaps but they were all new edges, no 3v's. Its probably not worth it but it would be pretty cool and unique.

I've seen an Austin Martin V10 (or was it V12?) whichever came in the vanquish, in a S197. Absolute retarded waste of money and time, but cool.

From what I have read, it's the crank. Even forged the week spot is the split pin. Can't handle high RPM from what I recall. Have you seen the split pin? I am surprised they even sold them. I mean they are pretty tough and everyone that runs one loves them, but they look like they are fragile. I wold take one in a heartbeat for pulling my camper.

That was a one off aluminum block 5.8l V-10 with 4v heads strapped into a new edge chassis. According to the article the ignition system was a bit of a nightmare as they had to use dual ECM's [and dual associated sensors] from the 6.8l to fire the thing due to the odd design of the crank.

It made Coyote like power.

As for installing a 6.8l V-10, It's been done a couple times and there's a thread on another forum detailing one install but I can't find it.

The biggest problem was the 6,8 is longer in the rear than the 4.6 so the firewall/tunnel has to be cutout and modified for it and the tranny to fit.

Since there's no intake other than the truck available it was pretty much dead after 5500rpm.

I don't believe this is true.

A friend of mine put a 4.6 in a 40 Ford pickup about 10 years ago. He was not happy with the performance so he bought a V10 van that had been rear ended. He told me that the engine and transmission bolted into the same mounts as the 4.6 and that the extra length of the V10 was all on the front of the engine.

Side note: he still was not happy so he (being a welder by trade) took an aluminum intake (it was 2V) cut the top off and tigged on a flat plate to which he bolted on a Lightening blower pullyed for a modest 6 or 7 psi. He was then happy with the performance.

Youre right it was a one off. I forgot it was a 5.8 not a 6.8 though I didnt know it was a 4v. That goes to show you how far technology has come since the start of the 21st century. Its still a cool ride though it'd be cooler if the parts were readily available. A 5.8 v10 under the hood sounds pretty cool lol.
