I had the Hurst Shifter and now have a MGW. I never missed a shift with the Hurst and really liked the looks and feel of it. After several people posted how much better the MGW is over any shifter on earth, I decided to purchase one to try it out. I figured that if I didn't like the MGW or didn't live up to it's rave, it will be easy to sell since so many people like it.

Found a good deal on a used one here and purchased it. The difference between the MGW and the Hurst is like day and night. Don't get me wrong, I like the Hurst and is not a bad shifter for your daily driving and occasional 1/4 mile pass, but if you're serious about racing, MGW hands down. The only thing I miss about my hurst is the old school look.

BTW I'll be selling my Hurst soon. I have to take pictures and post it in the classifieds.

I like my hurst I installed (got car and went right to summit to get the Hurst)...nice short throws and solid action. Only maybe downside is the high effort. but it looks awesome and works great...have to get used to it since its so different from my last car (turbo 4 banger w/ stock shifter)

I love my Pro 5.0. It shifts nice and easy, I have no problems getting in all my gears. I had a hurst on a previous vehicle, and I will never get another, the damn thing rattled so bad since day 1. I went with Pro 5.0 because I picked it up used for cheap, or else I would've got an MGW.

I've tried the roush, saleen, pro 50, and a hurst.

i'd rank them on this scale

mgw best
pro 50
hurst
roush
saleen
steeda
stock worst

That's kind of funny considering the Pro 5.0 is the same shifter as the steeda triax. I use the triax because I got it for free. My only complaint is the NVH. The newer ones have rubber bushings instead of poly. When I first installed mine with the poly bushings, it made the car feel like it was coming apart. Some dynomat in the right places toned it down a notch.

One thing I can say for it, you can beat on it as hard as you want, it's stout.

Pro 5.0 here. Smooth and doesn't rattle and I put a Hurst handle and white ball on it for the old school look.

Shifter

I had the stock shifter,then installed the Saleen block spacer(remember those).
Then i installed the Hurst shifter.
Then i installed the MGW shifter.
Then i threw them all out went auto & now have a B&M ratchet shifter.
Saleen spacer block = a little better than stock.
Hurst = looks
MGW = performance

+1 for MGW

I have driven several Roush's and had a Hurst on my 05. You likely wouldn't be disappointed with any of the listed products, but if you want the best the first time, spend the $ and get the MGW...

Exact same set-up and considering mine was only $100, can't beat the performance for the investment :thumb:

I roll with a stock shifter, I have felt the pro 5.0 and the hurst... don't like it at all. Pro 5.0 is the king for short shifters for 79-04 but I feel the 05 on is notchy.
