The sooner they release it the better. I'm hoping for a lot of wealthy 13/14 owners to covet the latest and greatest and trade in their 13/14 GT500 models for one saturating the market and driving the price down to be within my comfort budget.;)

GT500...more than you can afford pal....
The average American hasn't been able to afford a new car for decades (paying cash, that is). Fortunately, the credit arms of the automakers and banks are more than willing to have you sign yourself into slavery for 8 years at $895 a month to drive around in a depreciating asset.

The ridiculous price of new cars is caused by the same thing that inflated college tuition and health care costs: the expansion of debt and letting someone else pay for it now so you can pay for it later.

Anyway, I'm off my soapbox. Back to ogling fast cars.

You should slow down and be less angry with your references.

Does anyone know if will have an automatic transmission?

Patrick Rall from Torque News writes that "but if the new 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is going to compete with the likes of the Camaro ZL1 and the Hellcat Challenger, it is going to need an automatic transmission.

For the average person I would likely agree, self included. But for an accomplished manual shift driver that is to be seen. Much depends on the stock shifter and clutch setup as to how a better driver would perform. Given the opportunity to upgrade to an MGW shifter and possibly the clutch I would wager a good accomplished driver behind the wheel of a 19GT500 manual would give those others with autos a run for their money. I've seen one local guy running high nines hang right with a power glide setup running mid nines and beat him on occasion with the hole shot win in heads up competition. That guy can snatch some gears and to hear the car go down the track you'd swear he was running an auto. He drives a notch back LX with a T3650 setup.

I fully expect the '19 GT500 to be available with the 10-spd auto.

It obviously can take some serious power and torque, it's already putting up with over 650 ft-lbs of torque in the Camaro ZL1, and as we know it was co-developed with GM

There are also rumors of a GT500R.

^^^ Don't know the numbers but a local team here just scorched their stock 10 speed in their 2018 race car. Stated that due to the design the clutches are smaller in some way. I didn't catch if it was fewer clutches per gear or smaller diameter clutches but the trans didn't handle the power they were throwing at it. I would assume it was in the neighborhood of 850+ RWHP as they don't waste time with small numbers. They are currently working with Exedy to develop them a heavy duty rebuild package for the 10 speed.

Yeah, I don't think Ford would put the exact GT transmission in the GT500.
I'm sure it would get beefed up internals.
Which would then become some nice upgrades for the GT guys, haha

I don't know why, but I am not excited about this car, or it's engine, at all. I am sure it will look awesome, make astounding power, handle like a dream, ride like a cloud, give you handy while playing your favorite tunes in air conditioned comfort and knock down 25mpg. Yet, I don't care.

The whole current "muscle car" power wars has gone stupid.

The more tech and features cars get, the more I just want to daily a 1966 Ford Fairlane with a 390.
