For Sale is a 05-14, 8.8" rear end. 3.73:1 final drive, 31 spline Nitro 1541h axles, Nitro worm gear limited slip differential, Nitro diff. girdle, solid pinion spacer (no crush sleeve), and ARP main cap studs. I bought it in March with plans to install it in my 2005. I got an offer on my Mustang I cannot refuse, AS-IS, and I'm selling it. I have no need for this rear end, and so it is for sale, brand new, still in the crate. It was bought through J.T.'s Parts and Accessories, located in Cashmere, WA.

I have the original invoice as well. Asking for $1,000 plus shipping. To give you an idea, when it was shipped to me it was $150 shipped freight.

So . . . slight hijack, but perhaps my question would also be relevant to potential buyers . . . at what point will the stock GT rear end not be sufficient?

I realize its use is important (e.g. drag strip vs. street), but what is a ballpark HP number when something like this needs considered?

Honestly, the answer to that question is hard to answer. Depends on how you drive and what you're doing. If you drag race and do hard launches, you'll be more prone to breaking your rear end than a person who only does autocross; especially if you run slicks. I bought this because my supercharged 05, sitting around 500hp, destroyed the clutch pack in my factory trac-loc diff. I just never got around to installing it.

There are alot on inconsistencies in factory parts manufacturing. There are people who broke the axles with a factory car on slicks, others running 700hp and never had an issue.

For a STOCK GT car, the STOCK 8.8" GT rear is fine.

The V6 gets the 7.5" Rear, which would not hold up in a GT, so the GTs got the 8.8"

BUILT 8.8" is for going over the factory HP and TORQUE ratings.

I'm interested. Where are you located? If close enough I'll pick it up.

EDIT. Looked at your invoice. Georgia. Still interested but not in picking it up.

It was sarcasm, didn't think I'd have to explain that. Also, not all focus are FWD; the RS is AWD.

Lets be clear, the stock rear is NOT sufficient. If you get wheel hop it will break. This is a perfect platform to start with. The solid pinion spacer is a GREAT upgrade. With it being out of the car it would be a perfect time to weld the axle tubes and add bracing if you wanted. If i didnt have mine done already, id buy this. Good luck seller.

As of now, I have a member coming to pick it up on Sunday. I inquired about having it welded, but the quote was crazy. Since the housing is cast, and the tubes are steel, they have to be heated up, welded, then slowly brought down together. If you don't do that then the tubes will cool quicker than the housing and the welds can crack. Maybe my welder was going overboard, but he was highly recommended.

MAY break... You cannot say WILL, because it doesn't happen 100% of the time.
That's why the GTs and the '11+ V6 got the 8.8", and the 4.0 cars V6 have the 7.5"
Show me where they WILL break 100% of the time to back that up. That is, in no
way, statistically factual.

Statistically, everything will break at some point. Probability indicates how early. Stick to the rules, unless you're looking to buy, move on. Piece is sold. Hope everyone has a blessed week.

Right, I can't buy what's sold. Plus, the comment wasn't directed
at you, yet you answer with rhetoric...

You didn't make that comment to the other people that posted that
did not pertain to buying. There were all kinds of other comments,
that were not "I will buy it", yet you tell ME that. Very credible, so no,
I don't take what you have to say seriously. I can quote below EVERY
single OTHER post that didn't fall under your "Stick to the rules, unless
you're looking to buy, move on." reply...

Yeah, my nails break too, eventually, that point was also moot. He was
saying it WILL break, as fact, and it's not. Neither was what you just
said because other people had their say...

I didnt say anything because it was one comment. I'm not the Gestapo so I let it go. But there is a point where it becomes clear people aren't following the rules; you were that point. Comment wasn't necessarily directed at you, it was telling everyone if they want to argue about what will or wont break something, make their own thread somewhere else. No reply is needed or wanted. Now move along, please.

LOL, I just want to know what to plan for when I build my motor and turn up the boost to 900 crank HP.

Already got the Magnum XL. I was under the impression the rear end was fine until I saw this sale thread . . .
