Check fluid level warmed up in park while the engine is idling.

I can tell you if it reallly takes a minute to go into drive and the it slips till it warms up, you are burning that trans up in a hurry.
DO NOT keep driving it like that. It may be too late already.

ATF level is too low. The problem with the 5r5ss is there is no dipstick. I installed the PA deeper pan on my 2010... which has a magnetic drain plug on the bottom. Comes with a locking style dipstick on firewall, next to battery. Big enough to add ATF if required.

Agreed.... but baby it back to same service dept. To replace the ATF correctly, it should be done at the oem auto tranny cooler. ( suction on one side..and pressure on other side). Then u get it all out.....including tq converter. The 5r55s needs the catch can.... or it will puke ATF all over the ground with hard use.

I said that too, but that's a flush, not a service... Ford "Serviced" mine and all
they did was a fluid change, they didn't even do the filter. They claim it can
do more harm than good, but whatever, it was free. I do my VW 09G, and
it's the same bottom fill and level. It's not hard...

Agreed - it's low on oil.
I change my tranny fluid myself. I put in a dipstick on the existing pan and that makes this whole process so much easier. Why no dipstick is beyond me (oh yeah - so it makes doing it yourself so much more difficult so you take it to the dealer!).
1) When I take the TX plug out, I get 0.9 liters out. The snorkle that the plug threads into extends 1" up inside the pan. (I'll bet when they changed your oil, they didn't add the extra .9 liters so it's low)
2) When I take the whole drain assembly out I get another 1.6 liters out.
When I take the pan off, I get another 1.65 liters. That's a total of 4.15 liters.
Also don't forget, the filter holds a bit too and you can't really measure that. When I change mine, I add 4.5 liters and don't have any shifting problems.

For $3k, you can buy the TCI 'streetfighter' or 'super streetfighter' version of the 5r55s... which is designed to handle high hp. Level 10 out of NJ also makes a high hp 5r55s. The folks u are dealing with are thieves.

You didn't get the service done at a FORD dealer, did you? If so,
contact FORD directly, and tell them the trans doesn't work after
the dealer serviced it, and they won't correct the problem. The
dealer I went to would NOT do the filter and fluid, just the fluid...

You also said, you got it done at 150,000 miles per recommendation;
WHO recommended the service? There is no scheduled maintenance
listed for the 5R55S. FORD refused to change the filter when I took it
in, all they did was FLUID, and that was what was in the pan only. They
said that could do more harm than good, and they were not going to be
held responsible for any issues as a result.

Look in your user manual for the car, there is no scheduled maintenance
for the transmission. All it indicates is that the transmission does not
consume fluid, however, should be checked, and ADD if necessary. There
is a VENT, and when shifting under hard acceleration can force fluid out the
vent. Leaks are the only other method of losing fluid. Other than that,
there is no recommendation to change the fluid, or filter, at any given
time.

They call them lifetime fills, which is also misleading. Lifetime does not
mean forever, it means until it fails... So, if it fails at 40,000 miles, then
that was its lifetime...

I think the takeaway from all this is don't service something that doesn't need servicing. There's no need to screw around with your transmission if everything is working properly.

i.e. "Don't fix what's not broken."
I mean, we do that all the time on this site, but it's under the guise of "upgrading". I guess it's slightly different, but I've more than once questioned my own dumb ass when I ran into headaches installing stuff: "Why the hell are you replacing perfectly good parts on a car that drives perfectly fine?"

Upgrades are not a fix, it's an improvement. Like, factory to BMR, and so
on. Don't mess with the OEM part, with another OEM part if the existing
OEM part isn't broke.

If the transmission works, and shifts fine, then don't open it up and
mess with it...

I have upgraded almost everything with BMR and J&M. I did not have
a rear sway bar, so I added that last week. I have a 32mm front sway-
bar, but I got a brand new SR Performance 35mm sway bar, so I will
upgrade. I need bushings as it is, and $100 got me the rear 22mm and
the front 35mm adjustable.
