Good condition, although one can has a small dent on the top, but it’s not visible once installed on the car. I have the cans a quick polish last year and they look good. These were on my autocross car, so the tips have a little bit of marbles in them but can be cleaned off. SOLD

How loud are these compared to full size mufflers? Mac, in particular, if you have any experience with them.

No direct experience, but these would be louder because they’re not chambered.

Through my personal experience, the Borla S-type stingers droned horribly with the stock mid-pipe in place. Perhaps with high-flow cats and resonators mid mounted before the rear axle may help reduce the amount of cabin drone, but if you're keeping the stock catted mid-pipe? I would consider looking into the Ford Performance M-5230-S FR500S axle-back exhaust over the Ford Racing/Borla Stingers which do not produce any interior resonance drone when paired with the stock catted H-pipe.

I don't have cats currently. Not opposed to running mid mounted resonators. Right now, it has some old Mac mufflers that are pretty raspy, so I figured I'd try something else.

As long as your not opposed to adding resonators? The stingers should be ok. Just keep in mind they're going to be really loud when running cat delete pipes

Interesting, they didn’t drone on my Bullitt with the stock H-pipe, they actually sounded great. They’ll for sure be loud without cats, though.

Yeah, it's pretty loud as is. I can install resonators myself, if needed. Thanks for the help.

Anytime :waytogo:

Well I suppose some may interpret what drone is over others differently or they just may be more, less sensitive when it comes to hearing certain frequencies. What may be drone to one person may not necessarily be drone to somebody else. All I know, is there have been mixed reviews from those on this site and also from those on other Mustang forums who have made the switch from the Borla/Ford racing stingers to the Ford Performance M-5230-S FR500S axle-back exhaust because of the droning issues they experienced. Despite how great they sounded overall, I just could not deal with the ear splitting drone I experienced below 2500 RPM while in 5th gear at cruising speeds on the highway. Prior to making the switch to my current Borla ATAK axle-back exhaust, I tried running the stingers with a Mac off-road prochamber to find out if deleting the cats would make a difference. Needless to say, all deleting the cats accomplished was increase the sound level inside the cabin 2x as loud as before. So i then decided to reinstall the stock cats, but cut the H crossover section out and replaced it with the Pypes cut n clamp X pipe. At any rate, the X crossover did help reduce the level of resonance drone somewhat, but not quite enough to make a noticeable difference. Since making the switch to the Borla ATAK axle-back exhaust, the interior resonance drone is still present, but only when the engine is under a load below 2000 RPM when in 5th gear at cruising speeds on the highway, otherwise, I don't notice any drone at all. That being said, I can at least now deal with the occasional amount of interior resonance drone over my previous Borla Stinger exhaust

Rocky is right about opinions differing for sure. Some would say my car has drone at that sweet spot under load, but I always retort, "you should have been in here when the flowmaster American thunders were installed..." Lol

I know what you mean... I had a 2005 Mustang V6 a few years ago with duals, and it droned so horribly bad at around 2500 rpm. As long as it's not near that, I'm fine.

More like Dronemaster American Thunders, Ray! :laughlots:

With resonators installed! IMHO any drone you may experience from the Borla/Ford Racing stingers won't be anywhere near as bad compared to your previous Mustang V6 dual setup.

Just got these installed and to my surprise, they are quite a bit QUIETER than the Mac's that were on it. Sounds fine though, and doesn't seem to drone (didn't take it out on the highway yet). Overall, I'd say I'm pleased. The car is a bit less obnoxious now.

Forgot to ask if your cat delete setup is an H or X crossover. If your running an X crossover? the exhaust gases are designed to flow more efficiently over an H crossover and supposedly push the gases out through the rear quicker. The X design also produces more of a raspy and somewhat higher exhaust tone over the H crossover. As previously mentioned, since making the switch to the Pypes cut "n" clamp X pipe and Borla ATAK axle-back exhaust, I did in fact notice a reduction in the amount of interior resonance drone over my previous off-road Mac Prochamber/Borla S-type (Stinger) exhaust. As for the Stingers sounding more quiet over your previous Mac mufflers? you would think the Stingers would be louder due to having a straight-thru design over the chambered design of the Mac mufflers? Perhaps the Mac's also use less packing material over the Stingers

I have an X pipe, which I knew would be a bit more raspy. The new ones are certainly quieter, I was shocked.

As I mentioned before, the Borlas may have more packing material over your Mac mufflers. Other than that, I can't come up with any other scenario for the Stingers being quieter  In the meantime, let us know how the Stingers sound once getting your car on the highway.

Just drove the car to and from church, and I'm still pleased with them. The sound inside the car is much quieter, and the tone is a bit deeper; more muscle car-ish. There is a bit of drone at around 1800 rpm, but only really noticeable with the windows up. The drone isn't terrible, I've heard much worse.

So it would appear that running cat deletes with an X crossover does indeed reduce the amount of interior resonance drone over the "OEM" catted H crossover. Like yourself, I only experience an occasional drone when the engine is under load below 2000 RPM in 5th gear at cruising speeds on the highway and is only noticeable when the windows are up. Despite running the "OEM" cats with the Pypes cut "n" clamp X pipe in place, the drone isn't nearly as bad when compared to my previous off-road Prochamber setup. Therefore the drone is no longer considered as unbearable. At any rate, you can always add equal length shorty headers or better yet, make the switch to long tube headers if you want the exhaust louder. That being said, good to know that your pleased with your Borla Stinger setup :waytogo:

Guess I should have mentioned that, I actually already have full length headers lol

The drone you experience seems to pretty well sum up what I have as well. It's there, but it's considered "bearable" by me.
