Through my personal experience, the Borla S-type stingers droned horribly with the stock mid-pipe in place. Perhaps with high-flow cats and resonators mid mounted before the rear axle may help reduce the amount of cabin drone, but if you're keeping the stock catted mid-pipe? I would consider looking into the Ford Performance M-5230-S FR500S axle-back exhaust over the Ford Racing/Borla Stingers which do not produce any interior resonance drone when paired with the stock catted H-pipe.
Yeah, it's pretty loud as is. I can install resonators myself, if needed. Thanks for the help.
Interesting, they didn’t drone on my Bullitt with the stock H-pipe, they actually sounded great. They’ll for sure be loud without cats, though.
Anytime
Well I suppose some may interpret what drone is over others differently or they just may be more, less sensitive when it comes to hearing certain frequencies. What may be drone to one person may not necessarily be drone to somebody else. All I know, is there have been mixed reviews from those on this site and also from those on other Mustang forums who have made the switch from the Borla/Ford racing stingers to the Ford Performance M-5230-S FR500S axle-back exhaust because of the droning issues they experienced. Despite how great they sounded overall, I just could not deal with the ear splitting drone I experienced below 2500 RPM while in 5th gear at cruising speeds on the highway. Prior to making the switch to my current Borla ATAK axle-back exhaust, I tried running the stingers with a Mac off-road prochamber to find out if deleting the cats would make a difference. Needless to say, all deleting the cats accomplished was increase the sound level inside the cabin 2x as loud as before. So i then decided to reinstall the stock cats, but cut the H crossover section out and replaced it with the Pypes cut n clamp X pipe. At any rate, the X crossover did help reduce the level of resonance drone somewhat, but not quite enough to make a noticeable difference. Since making the switch to the Borla ATAK axle-back exhaust, the interior resonance drone is still present, but only when the engine is under a load below 2000 RPM when in 5th gear at cruising speeds on the highway, otherwise, I don't notice any drone at all. That being said, I can at least now deal with the occasional amount of interior resonance drone over my previous Borla Stinger exhaust
I know what you mean... I had a 2005 Mustang V6 a few years ago with duals, and it droned so horribly bad at around 2500 rpm. As long as it's not near that, I'm fine.Rocky is right about opinions differing for sure. Some would say my car has drone at that sweet spot under load, but I always retort, "you should have been in here when the flowmaster American thunders were installed..." Lol

More like Dronemaster American Thunders, Ray!
