First video I ever posted on you tube.
Gear indicator is wrong, I'm using 3rd & 4th. This has been fixed in tune.
First trip to Thunderbolt with this car. Been here before with my 91GT.

Nice. I haven't seen very many S197 Mustang track videos, let alone any on one of my home tracks.

Curious - what are you running for wheels/tires/suspension tuning? And which Magnum XL gearset?

I'm in the process of fitting 3.73's and a Torsen, and I'm looking at a Magnum XL myself.

297 first gear.
Im running my slicks from the 91.
17x9 wheels with 245/45/17 NT 01s near the end of their useful life. I do belive after that event I deemed them "done".
Roush 427R shocks/struts/springs.

The gear indicator is wrong. Im using 3rd/4th.

Thanks.

I never noticed the gear indicator until toward the end of watching it through for the second time, most likely because your shifting was happening in the same places as some of mine. I do drop down to 3rd for T1 and upshift back to 4th for T3.

It is a fun track.
Stayed tuned. With all this free time, I will post a few more:
Watkins Glen, Summit Point Main circuit and Shenandoah circuit.

Cool video and great job. Love watching others lines, braking points, hitting apexes. Look forward to more.

I drive a 2010 Roush 427r at HPDE events (BIR and Road America) and have to say I'm pretty happy with the Roush suspension on track. Your thoughts of it? My tires wheels are 20" Roush wheels with 275/35/20 Mickey Thompson Street Comps all 4 corners.

Cool! Look forward to the Watkins Glen video. Not terribly far from me. About 1.5 hours.

I picked the Roush suspension because the car is regularly street driven. It exceeded expectation on-track. So now I am trying different tires. I think as I get more comfortable with the car, I will find I need bigger brakes! It never ends.
I am running DTC 60 pads on 11&up 13" rotors. With cooling ducts ofcourse.

These cars are fairly heavy, so they need a lot of tire (and they like a lot of wheel width for whatever tire size). 18x11's with 285/35 MPSS here.

Here's one of my better laps on Thunderbolt. Aim Solo datalogging, not the DL version so sorry, no tach readout.

I'm similar situation, my car is street driven as well and also driven to the track, no trailer. I'm in a wheelchair and drive with hand controls so also have an automatic. For brakes I have 4 piston StopTech on front, stock calipers on rear, rotors are Frozen Rotors Cryo Slotted on front, Roush slotted on rear. Pads I use Ferodo Racing DS2500 on all 4 corners. No cooling ducts on mine.

I also have a 2018 GT PP1 completely stock. I ran that at Road America last year and put it into limp mode after 12 minutes on track.

Tires: My original tires on my Roush were Dunlop Sportmaxx, great tire with a great ride and good traction but a bit more expensive at about $375ea
I've been using the Mickey Thompson's for about 6-7 years. They are a great tire for the money, and one of the cheapest 20" tires I've found. Last year I purchased a set of the Firestone Indy 500's, never got a chance to put em on they are still in my garage, going to try those this year. My thoughts were if I'm chewing them up on track cheaper is better? That is why initially went with the MT's.

My 2018 has the Michelins and I was very impressed with those, excellent grip on track but they are up there in price with the Dunlops.

Here are a couple of my vids, sorry no data tracking but at BIR I'm doing 130-140 down long straight, 120 -130 into turn 1. :)
Roush at BIR on 3.1 mile long track:

2018 PP1 going into limp mode at RA:

So far I have run the following tires on-track:
Hoosier R6
Awesome but not a budget tire.
ZR rated street tires only run these now in tne rain.
Pirelli Ferrari challange slicks (used, qualified on tires)
Veri nice tire, but it is too soft. Way too much "tire snot" generated.
NT01 I love these.
Falken 615 (the softer version "k" IIRC) good all around dry/wet tire.
Hankook Ventus slicks. These are incredible. This is what is on the car in the Summit Point video. Got a super deal on tbese in 245/35/18. In reality, they look like 225s.
285/35/19. R888R waiting to go on my 302S 10" wheels. Im done carring a rain set if these work out.

Ooof.... I kept skipping the videos forward, thinking it was an out lap or cool down? No, JJ is just coasting, coasting, coasting. :(

Watch JJ's videos and *remember his pace* when he gives his regular opinions about parts/consumables. I am going to continue to counter his many posts because he consistently gives BAD advice. I don't think he does so maliciously, he just doesn't know any better. Dunlop Sportmaxx are not good track tires. Micky Thompson tires are total garbage. Roush shocks & lowering springs are low end / barely better than stock.

JJ, I don't like picking on you - but you post so much, and I fear people might follow your bad advice, promoting poorly chosen parts or consumables. "They work for you" because you are 20 seconds a lap off of Miata pace, in a supercharged Mustang. Post less, read more, and please get a driving coach.

I like that this forum has a "Like" function, to allow me to show my agreement with a post. But I really wish it also had a "dislike" function, so I could dislike a lot of the stuff you say, Terry. Your demeaning attitude and statements really make me question everything you say, and have guaranteed that I'd never purchase anything from you.

Well that didnt take long. Just go away please.
No I will never buy anything from you because of you attitude. You may have the best parts, you may have the best driving skills of anybody who ever got into a car.

Juice, on a positive note...
…great video, especially for first-time video posting. Too bad the car ahead of you didn't point you by. I thought you were probably faster in the corners but apparently had the same speeds in the straights.

If you read the post close enough I wasn't recommending anything, just making a comparison of what we each had. I could really give a shit less about your opinion, what you think of my driving style or my pace on track. I have worked with several great instructors at both BIR and Road America, if you watch my line I hit my apex's, and I out brake just about every car in my group going into corners, so I'm more convinced you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

I'm also very proud of my ability to drive onehanded with hand controls, I've never claimed to be the fastest guy out there, not will I ever be. That is not what HPDE driving days are supposed to be about either. Somehow you keep comparing them to racing and comparing my street car to a full blown race car. You're a little slow and don't seem to get there is a difference in the two.

At least I don't post multi page stories of how I build half assed race cars and then make up some bs excuse why I always get beat by that Corvette. :D

Thats one of my buddies in front of me in a GT 350. I was fine with riding behind him. :). Its about having fun and bringing your car home in one piece. And he did let me by a few laps later. lol. I need to buy RaceRender software so I can make videos longed than 3 minutes.

I'm a novice driver so I don't want race tires - for now. So, Bridgestone RE-71R are the closest thing to a race tire I've seen. I'll be trying a set of Firestone Indy 500 when the season opens up again. Just experimenting.

Ahhh, now I see why the video was short. I'm saving my pennies for a SmartyCam to go with the AiM Data Dash I have now. Maybe in next year's budget.

Re71r has great reviews. I have not tried those yet. Or the Firestones. So I cant offer any feedback.
