I got a 2009 GT, those door panels are coming unglued, so it’s time to fix. Clearly a flaw in their design. Was thinking does anyone have custom ones or anything better in there mustang?

Thanks for all the helpful links. I’m going with the predator mustang door insert kit. They look pretty awesome

For sure. They look pretty good when done and those leather/vinyl factory inserts are the Bain of my existence. Black on black car with a glass roof. They been a annoying problem for me since day 1. Hopefully predator inserts become the permanent solution, keep you updated.

Before you consider the predator inserts? pay real close attention to the video presentations. The owner of predator/mustang claims there's additional material in the door panels that are required to be removed and can be done so by just simply peeling off by hand. At any rate, this claim is completely 100% bogus, as there is no such material shown in the video nor removal method presented whatsoever. Needless to say, the only material behind the door panel inserts is the foam material between the door panel inserts and doors themselves! That being said, the videos are provided in the attached thread link below.

BTW it's the foam deteriorating that makes the covers come loose and fall off. That's why gluing them only works short term.

I have seen this material on American Muscle's kit installation also, I am confused.

Are you referring to the foam material? If so, it has to be removed before attaching the new panels. A wire bush does a nice quick job. Coverlay's kit includes silicone for gluing the panels on, but I chose to use construction adhesive instead for the quick tack time.

I guess we are talking about the same thing. Both Predator and American Muscle show the door panel backing being pulled off the hard surface in the door. Thanks

So other than wanting to change up the look, is it necessary to order a new insert?

Like you said, I re-glued the originals, only to have it last about a year.

Both Predator and American Muscle are full of shit.. The only way to get the foam material residue off the hard surface in the doors, is to use a wire brush. If you looked at the Predator and American Muscle videos? the foam material residue was already removed from the door panels before the new door panel inserts were installed. Needless to say, the foam backing material cannot just simply be pulled off as claimed.

Other than for just the look, it's not really necessary. After removing the foam residue backing with a wire brush, you could then use goo-gone to remove whatever residue is left over and then use rubbing alcohol to clean off the rest of the door panel surface

I got the coverlay ones and while my passenger side fit very well, I’m not pleased with the figment of the driver side at all. Reached out to the company I bought them from and they still haven’t heard anything from coverlay 2 weeks later.

I didn't remove the armrest or anything. I think to do it right and avoid a big mess, I have to basically disassemble the inside of the door. One of these days...maybe.

I pulled my fabric off. When you clean the glue off the plastic they look OK. I've tried to reglue them. No luck. Bare plastic doesn't look that bad.

I bought done Alcantara material and had a local upholstery shop replace mine. They lightly sanded the old foam to remove the glue and cut and installed the material for $140. My car sits outside and the material looks new after 8 years! Still holding, not coming loose.

Pulled Panels off. Cleaned the foam off with brush and reapplied using 3m Headliner Spray adhesive and they are like new and holding well. My car is in garage and they still deteriorated due to foam breaking down with not much heat like being outdoors.
