Hey yall, I took some steps from a previous guide and put together a new one. I must say this is a LOT easier than using a pac module and dealing with a bunch of wiring and programming. This is as plug and play as it gets.

I know this says 05-10 all but this will work for year that came with base wheels also

I have some good news for those interested.
Ok so a little back story first. In order to have steering wheel controls on 05-09 mustangs a 10-14 wheel is needed (and still is) and two WPT-440s. There has been a lot of questions on this asked in many different places and I hope I can clear this up for anyone or answer any questions someone might have.
Basically in order to get them to work, you wire the new 10-14 switches onto the old 05-09 plugs that go into the clock spring. Easy. There's even a guide now on how to do this (just Google s197 steering wheel controls it will come up) After you have wired them to the new plugs you'd be left with only cruise control buttons working because obviously 05-09 mustangs didn't have steering wheel audio controls however, the clock spring has two open spots for two additional plugs to be plugged in (the wpt440s) These plugs have multiple wires, but only one wire is used for the audio controls so you cut the rest off, and match the second plug. There two ways of doing this next part. If you have an aftermarket radio, you would use a pac module, a resistor and some wiring (this was the method I used before not too complicated but some wiring knowledge is needed) or you run that single wire coming out of the bottom of the clockspring to the correct pin (can't remember which number it is off the top of my head right now) and run it to your stock radio. Most 07-09 oem radios were programmed for radio controls but a lot weren't so this may not even work for you....

However the good news for those who want steering wheel controls the easiest

I heard dynavin was developing a new radio for 05-09 i immediately made the order and got mine relatively early. Installed it, removed all of the wiring for the pac module and everything. Now the way it is set up is so much easier. The steering wheel buttons did not change however as I mentioned before with how you plug in two WPT-440s into the clock spring, you'll have one single wire to connect to the radio to have steering wheel controls. They all work. Everything else is plug and play.

Here are some pictures, if enough are interested, I can make a guide. But, it fairly is, simple.

Step by step (I pasted some steps from and old guide that is now available but doesn't apply to this situation)

What you need
Dynavin n7pro
Two WPT 440S
Either solder or use heat shrink crimp connectors to connect wires
10-14 wheel and button harness (wheel should come with everything)

However you can only use these buttons

10-14 wheels work but for steering wheel buttons you need these for the cruise controls
AR3Z-9C888-BA (same buttons I have)

For audio controls any of these parts will work
DR3Z-9C888-FA
DR3Z-9C888-CA
DR3Z-9C888-DA
DR3Z-9C888-DA is what I have and has the most useful buttons

Disconnect battery
Remove steering wheel airbag covers on back side of steering wheel
Remove the two bolts holding the airbag on
Pull airbag straight out
Unplug airbag connectors
Next there is a u shaped plate. Remove the 3 t30 screws do NOT lose the springs
Unplug all connections now
Remove nut holding steering wheel
Remove wheel
Get new wheel ready
This next step can be done outside of the car. You'll need the room
Cut the plug that went into the clockspring (not the cruise control buttons) off of its harness (be sure to leave some wire so that you can attach this plug to the new harness later
Now do the same to the harness from the new steering wheel (sorry I don't have a picture
Now we need to connect the new harness to the old plug
New Harness -- Old Plug
Gray -- White
Brown -- Blue
Black -- Green (Ground)
Red -- Red (Power)
If you want audio controls, continue. For this specific method to work, you will need the new Dynavin n7 pro radio

There is a purple wire on the button plug. Cut this wire and connect it to one of the wires on the end of your wpt 440 any wire will work but the second wpt440 has to .atch the first that's why one of the end wires works best. On your other wpt 440, make sure to connect a wire to the same spot as your first.

Reinstall 10-14 wheel reverse as you removed the 05-09 wheel. Once the wheel is on, plug your buttons in, and plug the new wpt 440 with the purple wire attached to the center of the clock spring. Reconnect everything else, nothing can be plugged into the wrong spot.
You'll have one plug left : the second wpt440. Remove the bottom of the steering colum shroud and you'll see a plug where a connector goes. Take the plug out and plug the wpt 440 in with the single wire. (This wpt 440 should have a wire on it about 4 ft long to be sure you have enough.

Now, once you have all of this done, put everything back together, reconnect the battery and turn your headlights on to be sure the lights on the wheel work. Now, let's turn to the audio controls.
The second wpt 440 we ran a second wire however long you need. Run this under the dash behind the radio. On the back of the dynavin head unit, there is a 4 pin plug. There is a green wire with white stripe (this shouldn't change but just be sure it's the green wire on the 4 wire plug. Follow the green wire back to the bigger plug and splice in your wire from your wpt 440. The connection for steering wheel controls is made and now work. All functions work as they should.

This is far more easier than wiring the pac module and getting it to program and talk to the radio. Alas, if someone wants to do this, let me know. I'll give you the guide for it but it's a hassle..

Uh Glad this worked for you but I already have my head unit and it's a Pioneer. I"m still trying to figure out how to get my radio control to work using the new SWI-PAC2. It has toggle switches on the side that Auto programs basic functions, I just need to known WHAT wires from the pac connects to the two wires coming from the WPT?

Thanks but I've seen the guide it doesn't cover the new SWI-CP2 PAC. and there nothing in the guide about what color wires to connect from the WPT to the PAC.

I was looking at this head unit yesterday actually. It looks like you still have to plug your phone in to Bluetooth music... maybe I read that wrong. The install looks clean. I also didn't see anything about how it connected to the shaker 1000 system. I am sure it does or is a way. She your photos on their website too.

The shaker integrates like factory actually. Also, the plugs are just for android auto and car play. You don't need to plug your phone in. But there is a apple car play module out right now that is wireless and works with the dynavin unit. As for Android auto, there is a Module called AA wireless. It is on kick starter right now on indiegogo. It's set to ship January 2022.

Here is a in depth detail guide on the wiring and everything else needed for steering wheel controls and the DYNAVIN radio. YES I KNOW THERE IS A GUIDE OUT THERE, THAT IS FOR AFTERMARKET RADIOS OTHER THAN DYNAVIN AND REQUIRE A PAC MODULE) You can use this diagram regardless if you have a dynavin radio or not. If you do not have a dynavin radio, a pac module is needed.

10-14 wheels work but for steering wheel buttons you need these for the cruise controls
AR3Z-9C888-BA (same buttons I have)
For audio controls any of these parts will work
DR3Z-9C888-FA
DR3Z-9C888-CA
DR3Z-9C888-DA
DR3Z-9C888-DA is what I have

I've had this done for a long time, years ago using the pac module with a pioneer radio and now with a dynavin

I completely took my harness out and untaped to get you guys the best pictures possible.
Pictures soon guys
Old harness.
Pin 5 (black to horn female receptacle)
Pin 4 (two green wires)
Pin 3 (Blue wire)
Pin 2 (white or tan wire)
Pin 1 (red)

New cruise control plug harness
Pin 1 (blank)
Pin 2 (brown)
Pin 3 (blank)
Pin 4 (blank)
Pin 5 (blank)
Pin 6 (BLACK)
Pin 7 (grey)
Pin 8 (red)
Pin 9 (blank)
Pin 10 (blank)

New audio control plug

Pin 1 (purple)
Pin 2 (blue)
Pin 3 (yellow)
Pin 4 (blank)
Pin 5 (blank)
Pin 6 (BLACK)
Pin 7 (green)
Pin 8 (red)
Pin 9 (blank)
Pin 10 (blank)
Regardless of color, match the pin numbers on each plug to their respective spots.
We will start with old plug that came out of your car.
The black wire (PIN 5) with the 90 female connector -leave it alone
The GREEN wires (PIN 4) cut and strip a small portion of wire and twist together for now (we will solder these later)
The BLUE wire (PIN 3) cut and strip a small portion
The White (or tan wire) (PIN 2)cut and strip a small portion
The Red wire (PIN 1) cut and strip a small portion

NEW HARNESS
BROWN WIRE (PIN 2 ON CRUISE CONTROL PLUG) connect this wire to WHITE (PIN 2) on the old plug
BLACK WIRE (PIN 6 ON CRUISE CONTROL PLUG AND AUDIO CONTROL PLUG) solder these two black wires together and connect them to the green wire (Pin 4) on the old plug
GREY WIRE (PIN 7 ON CRUISE CONTROL PLUG) TO WHITE WIRE (PIN 2 ON OLD PLUG)
RED WIRE (PIN 8 ON CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND AUDIO CONTROL PLUG) solder these two wires together and connect them to the RED WIRE (PIN 1) on the old plug
GREEN WIRE (PIN 7) ON AUDIO CONTROL PLUG strip this wire and solder the pink eyelet ground connector onto it and connect these to the GREEN WIRE (PIN 4) on the old plug.

Lastly, connect the PURPLE WIRE (PIN ONE ONE THE AUDIO CONTROLS PLUG) to one of the END wires on the wpt connector. Your second wpt connector must match your first one so choose an end wire (it doesn't matter)

Now connect a wire to the same wire you did for the first wpt connector and connect this wire to the green wire with white stripe on the 4 wire plug on the dynavin. Connect this in a way so you can disconnect the radio later.

I have more pictures but I can't upload them for some reason. I have a pdf as well but it says it's too big to upload. Pm me if you'd like it

Hey everyone! New to the forum (but have been using it for a looong time now ;)) Figured i’d let you guys know (including teeje) that the WPT-440 harnesses are not really available to be purchased anywhere on the internet anymore. I dug and dug and dug (after being told that they were discontinued from a buyer), and found out that the WPT-1242 harnesses are literally identical and are directly a match for the WPT-440’s… not sure why there’s such little info online about it. Anyway, I found a good price on Ebay for a sweet brand-new 2014 steering wheel with the exact buttons needed, as well as the two WPT-1242’s required. I’m ALSO thinking of creating a YouTube video (using your guide and allowance) with my own Dynavin N8 Pro. I was so thrilled to see someone on here RECENTLY created a guide for how to install with a Dynavin, since it confused me that it had the ability to have steering wheel controls, yet I didn’t know which PAC to use (glad it’s built in ), anyway, thank you so much teeje!

Also, noticed you wrote down "Strip Pin 3 Blue wire", yet never used it. I assume (after looking at your pictures) that you accidentally wrote down to connect the BROWN wire to the WHITE wire, when in reality, you meant to connect the BROWN wire to the BLUE wire. I also saw it in another thread, just checkin'! Also, I decided to recreate your PDF and reference you in it, being a bit more detailed in the process. I should be done with it in about a week once I get my own parts in. I've been studying it so I'm prepared.

I have my new/old steering wheel installed everything is working except the phone buttons. Are they supposed to be work? I have a new audio button controller coming in next week that looks a lot better than the old one. I also have a Dynavin 8 pro, Thanks for posting how to do the retrofit.

I also have the Dynavin 8 Pro and just tried installing the new wheel and am having the same issues plus a few more. The only buttons that works consistently are the forward and reverse song buttons, and the music icon. Neither my phone answer or end call works nor the voice command button.

As for the volume buttons, volume down is really finnicky. You have to press it down really hard for it to work and theres a long delay between that and it actually registering on the dynavin. Something else strange is that the dynavin only recognizes the volume up button when programmed, but then has no functionality.

I wired up my harnesses all according to the PDF guide but if anyone can help I'd appreciate it. I can also send pictures of my wiring and soldering. I haven't heat shrinked them yet because I wanted to make sure it was going to fully work before I made it a bit more permanent.

*UPDATE* Unplugged and replugged wires in after setting up SWC and volume buttons work. Odd.

Dynavin radio still does not recognize the voice command and phone call buttons when I try to program them. I'm trying to figure out what each color wire/pin on the audio control buttons correspond to in case I just need to re-solder the wires. If anyone knows if a certain color corresponds to the phone and voice command buttons, I'd appreciate it.

Im having the same issue as you. Sometimes the controls work and sometimes they don't. So not sure how people are getting this to work properly. At least with a Dynavin Pro 8.

The way I wired it, I de-pinned the 1242 and put one into my factory harness. Looks factory and nice, but with all these guides I've followed I'm not sure which to follow in terms of wiring.

Update:

CC does not work at all. Lights work fine. Oddly, Dynavin only recognized audio controls with either one of two settings; with the lights on or off. Otherwise anytime you want it to recognize the controls the lights need to be turned off or on and reprogrammed on either setting through Dynavin.

Gonna revert back to my old wheel and make sure CC still works on stock stuff. Otherwise shoddy wiring, shit guides, or shit CC switch I got from Motorcraft/Amazon. I wired everything in as exact to what many of these guides are saying to do, to no avail would appreciate a hand.

I finally got the cruise control to work and volume up/down and forward/reverse buttons to work consistently. I would just try redoing the connections. Use heatshrinks!!!! I re-soldered them better the second time so I think that was the main culprit. The first time I added way too much or too little on the connections so I think that was screwing it up. I also originally used a T-tap to connect to the green and black wire for SWC on the back of the radio instead of soldering.

However, the voice command and phone answer/hang up buttons still don't work at all. Dynavin Pro 8 doesn't even recognize the button input when I try to program them. Very frustrating since according to this guide all the buttons should work. However if I program the phone answer function to another button, it works. So those buttons COULD just be damaged and I might just need to get a new set of buttons.
