Well, had a big oof moment when I was busy logging and my laptop fell of the car and gouged the paint.

After a few seething hours, decided to say F it and give it a shot at touch up and here are the steps and results:

1. Cleaned the gouge with rubbing alcohol
2. Applied touch up base, let cure for 24 hrs
3. Applied clear, let cure for 24 hrs
4. Applied second coat of clear, let cure for 24 hrs.
5. Wet sanded with 1,500 grit until leveled with existing paint
6. Wet sanded with 2,000 grit until desired level
7. Compounded and polished

Nice!

While we are in that region. My weatherstrip is totally faded. What are you guys doing there? I used several trim restorers with not much success. At the door it is like hard rubber and at the roof it is hard plastic.

Please post pics.

If you’re referring to the over the roof trim pieces… they are aluminum with a thin bonded rubber edge and still available from Ford. They pop on & off.
