Good Luck. Unfortunately I have no experience. Although I have driven an rx8 through an autocross course for a mazda event.

Get as MUCH advice as you can from others. Sometimes it's not always the best advice from individuals, but it's always nice to have a wealth of information.

You can learn a lot if you film yourself taking the lines too.

But most of all, HAVE FUN!!!

+1. I found a video a while back explaining conering, braking, how to find the apex of turns, heel toe braking, and a lot of other shit.. I think it was youtube, or maybe it was on spike a while back.. either way, Dan's right, but then again, that's all theory, it's just nothing but practice man! :thumb:

I'm still searching for something remotely close to what I saw.

Most SCCA regions will give novie drivers extra instructions and help. The ones around here do a novice walk through of the course and give some pointers about the correct line through the turns during the walk through.

Also if you ask for an instructor to ride along with you, they will give you pointers.

yah on there website it says there are ppl there that will ride with you and let you ride with them. im hoping that it is a blast i would defiantly like to be able to do some thing besides just turning left or driving in a straight line.

My advice is prepared to be humbled and take it in stride.
Second, the throttle is not an on/off switch, and treating it as such will upset the car.
Third, slow into corners, fast out. Do your braking in a straight line, then turn.
Look ahead, autoxing one gate at a time is slow. You need to be thinking one or two moves ahead, taking corners in such a way that the next becomes easier.

you are my new friend....i dont know how many people i see using the throttle and brakes and steering as on off...all or nothing...even with dry rotted tires on the back of my 07 i never lost it

as far as looking ahead...im still working on that and have been to autox about 3 times now, labor day will be my 4th, third in the mustang, first was in a friends MR2

not looking far enough ahead causes me to dnf at least one time every time i have gone out...and i always do the walk through...
