first and foremost this is meant to be objective. let me say first, that jims customer service and communication is A+. you couldnt ask for more, he always picks up, if he doesnt he returns calls asap, and he communicates everything!

my car just came off of the rollers today, and made great power. i dont have the sheet in front of me, but when my tuner/builder emails me the sheets i will post them up for those interested. i think it made 460ish/460ish on 7.8-8.3 psi. i want to say that the graph reads the power really coming on at about 3000 rpms. it was very quick to dial in the fuel trims, driveability, etc. the maf that jim provided (i forgot the name) doesnt mate up to the diablo software i had to use (my tuner didnt have the 2008 sct software so we went to diablo) and he had to enter 80 parameters in manually. a chore but not that big of a deal so the functionality of the kit seems to be there.

prior to all of this, jim was super responsive to any and all ordering questions, and shipped everything out right away which was very cool. i expected to see some boxes reading thp or some variation, but it was shipped in unmarked boxes, again no big deal. everything was wrapped well with bubble wrap, and or newspaper/junk papers etc. not what i anticipated but it was functional.

the person that installed the kit is a well known racer, who tunes, and wrenches also. he is no stranger to blowers, n2o, or turbos. he has installed all of these on all platforms of cars, and is very familiar with s197s. my builder is very meticulous, and detail oriented, and strives for oem/clean installs. no half assing. he works out of his well equipped home garage, and is not paying shop rent so to speak so he can take his time with what hes working on and doesnt have more than 1 project going on at a time.

to say the least, he has had a hell of a time getting this system on. he has a ton of unexpected hours into it because he modified everything on it as opposed to what the instructions had recommended because he wanted a clean, detailed install. long story short, everything is super, super tight. to the point there is a wiring harness in a loom (from the factory) near the left valve cover. that loom in resting right near the turbo, nearly (but not) on top of it. i dont know if this will be a problem or not, although i feel very uneasy about it. also, after the dyno run we noticed a certain smell. one of the leading pipes into the turbo that routes under the engine bay is resting against the fan. to which it partly melted. my builder is going to see what he can do, but he is saying there is no slack, and everything is super tight. i hope we can salvage the fan. there were also a lot of small misc issues that are going to or have caused headaches so to speak. no need to really start a bitchfest, and thats not what im trying to do.

all in all, the kit does what its designed to do. make good power, at modest boost levels, at a cheaper pricepoint than some of the competition. i havent driven the car yet, as my builder is going to try and reevaluate the piping near the fan. we may end up wrapping a few parts. i am a bit apprehensive about everything right now, but i am the type to overstress. both jim, and my builder communicated often throughout the install, which im sure helped, but i still think my tuners life has been hell since he started on my car. i am not saying to not buy this system. however, be prepared for a difficult install, or have some cash lined up for install.

Good to know all the details. Tuning should be pretty straight forward. The S197 loves the boost and can be setup for <11.5 psi pretty easily even with the stock MAF sensor.

im sure we couldve gotten more power out of it. i dont remember the #s off the top of my head, but the first pull was at 8.5 lbs pig rich and something like 465/460. i wanted to stay conservative because the extra 20-30 horsepower isnt worth gambling the longevity for me. i dont want to build a shortblock anytime soon

however he said the curve on my car compared to the everyday procharger, vortech, etc car is a hell of a lot better and i shouldnt have any problem with those cars lol. btw my car is all stock with the exception of jim kit and some k springs. factory axle backs also! i forgot to mention, i have the upgraded intercooler, 60 lbers, and twin gt pumps

I have heard of problems with the thp single. My HP kit was the same way...lots of unexpected hours.

Glad it all worked out in the end.

that hasnt happened yet. there is an undiagnosed noise coming up, that i cant even describe and its extremely intermittent. also we need to figure out what to do with the pipe near the fan. and i dont know what can be done about that harness near the turbo.

I dont know what can be done about that harness near the turbo.

I'm not familiar with the system or the turbo location, but any part (or all, if you're as insane as me) of the harness can be reworked with careful planning. Send me or post a photo of the offending location and I'll see if I can point you in the right direction. An example:

whos car is that? ^^ is that the turbo HP kit?

;) No, its not a kit of any sort. We built all of it. I'm not wanting to clog this thread up though. If you have any question about it please send me a PM.

Hellion, looks good! Can you send me bigger pictures? When I click on them I get nothing.

v8venomgt, are you able to get any pictures loaded?

I would just say don't get discouraged. I understand your frusteration...just stay after it. I think Hellion and powerhouse kits are the only single's that actually fit every time.
