Never lost the stock motor even at 525 rwhp and 12000 miles.

However, I have blown up 3 'BUILT' engines to date. If you're like the majority of guys with built motors and going to be happy somewhere in the 500-600 rwhp range, then I don't think it really matters, but if you are like me and want in the 800+ range - then WHO builds your engine is just as important as what parts go inside of it IMO.

I am more confident with my current engine at 1000 rwhp than any of the other motors I have had at 600 rwhp...

blown up two of them. Stock one at 510rwhp, 3 rods hangin out of it. and my first built motor at 560rwhp. I tried to save some money and re-used the stock valves when re-doing the heads (hand ported with cams and springs) head of a valve broke off...fucked up the head and tore up a piston. Sucks but now I got a whole new setup, should be done this week.

Just goes to show that "there's never enough money the first time, but there is always enough to do it twice." or somethin like that hahah

It's far more common for built motors to blow than stock shortblocks, and to an even greater degree stock longblocks. The reason is not just that the built motor is going to be raced hard, but many people underestimate the accuracy with which Ford can mass produce their engines compared to an aftermarket builder.

That is just true because the majority of stock engines are in unmodified DD, and 99% of built motors are raced.

I blew one up at the hangover nationals Jan 1st 2007. Nitrous backfire. Sounded like someone shot a gun in the car. Bright orange flash. Broken windshield. Wow, I can see whats left of my intake manifold even though the hood is "closed".
