Thsi forum is the best. If I had to read one more post like "check these mods out!' and some dipshit put black lugnuts and an 8" antenna on his car I was gonna puke. This forum is straight to the point without dickhead monitors and word police. This forum is :supercool:

You are correct. I completely left Mutangforums because I could not take another daily "what stripes look best" thread

Awesome sig.

But you need to add "Only For a Short Time, with a Little Rattle"

I doubt it. It's the KB tune, and super rich. I haven't heard of any of these setups blowing up. Some of the supersnake guys are making 710-725 on pump with this blower, and whipple guys locally making 700 on pump with no issues.

Update:

I've been sitting on this for awhile now.

It cost me $1500 to get the motor back.

I did manage to get it sold locally. Hopefully he has better luck with the Diamond pistons they chose this time than I had with the original Mahle set.

I have asked Livernois for the parts they removed from the engine - which are my property - twice now. Once over the phone, and once in writing. Both times I was told they would ship out right away. That was weeks/months ago. I can only assume that Livernois is not going to return my parts, and I will never get to see for myself the damage. Hell, at this point even if I did get something back, I wouldn't know if they came out of my motor or not.

Before any of the internet experts start a bunch of shit, here are the facts:

We had 4 diferent orders on the same pallet as my motor. 3 sets of heads & the 298 stroker.

1. 298 Stroker - piston failure @ 1000 miles - identical failure and mileage as others.
2. Stage 3 heads - falsely advertised as having 1mm oversized valves (don't even try it, I saw it for myself on the website - BEFORE it was changed)
3. 4V heads with a massive intake deck gouge
4. One good set of heads with no issues.

Oh well. 1 out of 4 aint bad.

It doesn't matter anymore. I've moved on to another project. This motor was put together by Ford, is making more power and holding together with high boost and pump gas. Hopefully this thread will serve as good information for someone to consider when choosing an engine builder.

Well, I always wondered what the bottom-line was on this.
Now I know.

Glad you have gotten things rolling again. :thumb2:

Wow, what a clusterfuck. Read all 17 pages. This has pretty much eliminated any desire to go boosted for me.
I think the moral of the story is if you wanna throw high boost at your engine, you need either low compression or race gas or BOTH.

Those are both worthy considerations, but the quality of the componants, machining, assembly and tune weigh equally.

In any case, what a dissapointing experience.

Don't be scared - my stock Ford assembled motor ran great under 8 pounds of boost for a year or more. It wasn't until I "upgraded" that I had problems.

No, the real moral of the story is don't trust someone who is trying to sell you something. Do your own research, because when it goes bad, you're on your own.

I agree. That IS the bottom line - great recommendation. "Caveat emptor!"

I am not eliminating the possibility of a HVM or HVM-like blown engine that has a significant amount of engineering and proven testing behind it (such as Ford or Roush), but reading this was pretty scary from a "customizing" and "cost of failure" standpoint.

Anyways--sounds like your new project is producing quite well, judging by your sig! :thumb2:

Unfortunatly all this happened. I have always had great expreiences with Livernois and any advise they gave me has been correct. Glad to see V8sRGR8 has gotten a new project without any issues.
