Ford Racing just announced they've discontinued the 350 hp 3V Hotrod crate engine, and also the iron block GT500 crate engine.

In their place they're offering the new 412 hp 5.0L 4V as a crate engine and also a "control pack" so you can install it in just about anything. In addition to that, they're also offering the all aluminum '11 GT500 5.4L as a crate engine, and also a "control pack" for that as well.

With the control packs, the new engines will virtually drop right in any S197 without much more needed.

Release is scheduled for early summer '10. Thought you guys would be interested in knowing this, as there's been some discussion about a crate engine hopefully being available.

Wolfe is no longer in the Ford Racing division (Still with Ford). It's..... Shit, I forgot who but I'll look. And crate engines huh.. Maybe I'll look into that instead of a dinosaur as a graduation present.

You are right! As of the first of the year Jamie Allison took that position.
I was told he is as much or more of an enthusiast as Wolfe. We need gearheads
running the go-fast-show at Ford...

No pricing yet.. I couldn't even take a guess.

The 6.2L is a truck engine, so no info on it.

And yes, Jamie Allison is the man in charge now, and shares the same passion about racing, and racers like us, as Brian Wolfe did.

Jamie Allison, that's him! I had to go take a test so didn't get to look yet, but you guys are on top of it! That 6.2 is going to be a beast in the raptor though..

It would be interesting to see if they end up selling the control packs separately as a stand alone product.

Hmmmmmm, this is good news, but the price will probably kill all my dreams of a 5.0 swap. :(
