If are Military deployed to the desert and go to AAFES Exchange Car Sales to buy a mustang every military know is tax free sames as overseas but what kind of taxes do you need to pay when you get back. I send them an e-mail and they told me i will have to pay the local sales taxes here in Kansas.

But how many kinds of taxes are needed to be paid in order to buy a car?

Is it the same buying the car in a local dealer or is better to buy it on AAFES??

AAFES cuts some incredible deals man. If Im correct, when I was deployed, they pretty much take the MSRP and subtract incentives off it. Every single incentive that applies and usually ones you dont even know about. As for taxes, Im not too sure because I didnt ask. But I would assume that where ever you got the car delivered to is what state tax youre gonna pay

I bought a new at the time 2006 jeep liberty crd while I was stationed in kuwait from aafes. My experience at the time was horrible. If I knew then what I know now I would have never have done it. Yeah I didn't pay taxes but I could have gotten a better deal at a dealership dealing with them face to face. So in my opinion don't do it. Things may have changed since then but I doubt it.

The big thing is that any payments made on the loan while deployed are interest free

The thing is that some states will waive the tax if the car had been registered some place before. Since this one won't when you get back you will most likely have to pay FULL STATE TAX! Which will mean pay it in CASH! You'd be looking at 1000's. To where if you bought it local, you could roll that money into the loan.

Yeah, the interest free payments while deployed are nice. I'm in Fort Dix, NJ right now for 30 days and then off to Afghanistan. I'm doubling up on my payments for the rest of this year.

True. Its pretty easy though to save up that kinda money to pay the tax. Shouldnt be a problem unless you let it become one

I got mine while in Iraq in 05 didnt have any problems at all. It was way cheaper buying there ($5000) and I didnt pay taxes.

Not only will you get it alot cheaper, but who cares it you pay state tax on it. The hostile fire imminent danger and haz duty pay will be more than enough to make the payments while your out. :beerdrink:

Depends on the state DMV, like Nevada has an exemption. Other states you pay, so go to you DMV web site of your state.

Like Shocker said; dependant on the state you register the car. The general rule is if the car Is 1 year old by the time you register, the state will waive taxes. If you take delivery of the car in the states, you will likely be paying state taxes.

I have never heard about the interest free payments before, so it must be an incentive through specific creditors. I financed through USAA, and they are getting theirs.

It sucks man.... I have my 2009 in Germany for a good price but to compete with these 5.0 will be a pain in the ass. 412 hp vs 300 hp stock.

i have a couple of $$$$ in the car and i might be running just what the new 5.0 stock are running. That is frustraiting and the woman in the dealer just want me to get the new 5.0... very tempting :moon:

i will tell her if she don't give me at least $7,000 for my car then is no deal and i know that will not happend so i will be looking into 5.3 stroke my engine and heads to be able to run with these 5.0 in the future...

They will buy your old car, but they don't have a resale lot. They do wholesale their "trade in" cars, which means there is no bartering room for you with your trade in. They offered me $1700 for my 2000 Odessey, but I was able to sell to a private buyer for $5500.

As soon as I got back from my last deployment I got my car. They had one price on the sticker but if you go in and talk to one of the sales rep there are always rebates and deals they can deduct from the sticker price.

I will see what i do in 8 weeks, the local dealer order one the way i wanted 3.73 gears option only base model and alloy color but if they dont give me at least 7k down on trade-in for my car then i will keep mine.
