im sure kaldars car will outpace the new gt500. There isnt much to show that it will be better on paper.

Approx equal power, hes got less weight, presum. better suspension, and better tires (dunno how the new g2s are)

Lol... This thread makes me sad. With all of that suspension work, I would've expected your 'Stang to hold its ground with the Vette.

I know Griggs makes a kit that will make a Mustang out handle a Vette. But that's some serious $$,$$$.

So, what I've learned from this thread is I need to not dump any more money into my Mustang and just save up for a Corvette hahah!

I have no doubt in my mind Griggs makes a kit that will allow this.....but yes $$$ is always a factor. Total bullshit...

you're kidding right?? check under your mustang. that huge hunk of steel is called a solid rear axle. you either have to live with the bounce or crank your rear end down so tight it will rattle your fillings. either - or.

Its been proven you can make a Stang handle with the best of them, live axle or not.

Getting the car to handle well is cheap...getting it to handle compared to a viper/gt3rs/z06 not so cheap.

But then again, whats a z06 or gt3rs cost?

At this point its a internet arguement..its better solved on the track, check the vid i posted in the other thread...and tell me you can't make a solid axle car fly ;)

you can spend more money on the stang and make it handle like a z06 though anything is possible.

I know you can setup an SRA to handle very, very well. I just think you give up a lot of 'streetability' to get it there. You can't have very much travel w/o notching the frame or something if you're lowered 1.7''.

off topic but check out this SRA monster http://www.glennbunch.com/

cliff notes on this thread: "duh"

It'll feel a lot better if you can lop about 5-600lbs off of the Mustang...

This live axle discussion has been beaten to death. The Griggs setup changes the geometry of the chassis and feels totally different. The torque arm eliminates the "snap". The SLA front end maintains the geometry more accurately during suspension travel. The car feels light. In the hands of a capable driver it will run with anything remotely comparable in power/weight ratio.

The track should be the ultimate proving ground, not talking points. Just like some people criticize the LS7 for being a low tech pushrod engine. When you line up next to a 12 cylinder, 72 valve, 48,000 moving parts Ferrari and smoke his butt no one's going to car about the pushrods.

Kaldar, I drove my buddies 03 z06 w/ coil overs, gears, cai, and a tune back when I had my s/cd 01 saleen...it took me a good year to get over the fact I wanted a vette. Im know the new ones are better, but that damn car impressed me so much...I was in love with it. Fantastic power, killer handling, nice and comfy...I found out that day why a corvette is so expensive. Its crossed my mind to make the next car a used c6 :)

Exactly.

My thoughts exactly, part out the car and build up the z06.
I call dibs on the wheels!!

The thing is, once your introduced to something that in your experience is so much better your probably never going to be "satisfied." Each car has it's place, dumping your car/parts could get you a nice DD and a ton of mods for the vette. Take it FWIW :beerchug2:

I remember thinking i would never spend that typa $$$ on hoppin up my mustang..SLA...BIG tires...Custom wheels

Hey, once your on track...and you see what the car can do..once i toke a ride in a well setup Gt...it changed my mind

You can't begin to compare a street stang with a few off the self parts to a track setup gt

At the end of the day, you just have to pick your weapon of choice.

Well that begs the question, is it better to lose and own a ferrari or win and own chevy? :omfg:

Driving past 911's, M3's and Vette's in a Mustang is a very satisfying.

What's funny... when you consider the z06's overall performance capabilities... it's a friggin' bargain!

This.

The extent to which some owners modifiy their mustang and the the cost associated with those mods doesn't really make sense when you could take all that money and just buy a 'vette that will out perform that heavily modified Mustang in stock trim. The only downside with the 'vette is cost of ownership (parts) and practicality.

for me it is because i can not own a vette because of insurance costs.
