I would like to get some input from you guys. Me and my friend recently installed a saleen supercharger on my 08 Stang with 28k miles currently running a mail tune. We installed the 3.6 pulley that came with it and yields about 8 lbs on my boost gauge. I am about to install my brenspeed NSR blower cams and finally get a dynotune on that bad boy. My question is simple , to "up to 3.4" (10lbs?) or leave it with the 3.6 ?" I am mainly concerned with the safety factor of the motor. I have a daily driver right now, so i only drive my car friday-sunday and occasionally once during the week when i am missing the rumble lol. Other mods include : manual, Full mac exhaust, 4.10's (might switch to 3.73's, GT500 pumps, suspension (minus shocks), and no tires (need DR really bad). I see most people run the 10lb pulley on their blowers so i wanted to possibly do the same, except i will have cams in also so i am not sure if it will push it even harder on the motor. Thanks for you input guys. :hi:

or spray and pray.lol.sorry couldnt help it.

1st how often do you race the car?if not much or once in a while why even risk blowing the motor up.it makes no sense to me going to a 10 pounds just so you can tell others what numbers you are putting down.

3.4 is fine. Things may change when going to 3.2. You will need a tune as well. What injectors are you using? 39lbs and conservitive tiune will do wonders.

I am running GT500 Fuel pumps, 39lb Injectors, MAFia, and CL Racer 95mm racer intake. I plan on taking it to the track probably once a month, but will definitely be driving it friday-sunday to all the car meets and everywhere in between. Either pulley i get, i will ask for a conservative tune for extra security. I am definitely NOT getting the pulley to tell someone i have 10lbs, as a matter of fact, i will not tell anyone around here how much boost or other mods since i will probably race a few people for $$ around here. I am sure they will be able to hear the whine and lope in the cams haha but i like to keep as many details to myself as possible.

Might wanna think about the drivability first.
If your having a hard time with traction now, adding cams and more boost isn't going to help.
I know it's tempting to swap a pulley for your dyno tune but maybe some patience would be better.
I was in the same boat not long ago-got a supershaker and gt500 pumps installed with a dyno tune but I put some dr's on too.
It was a whole new car.
If you install cams and dr's same deal brand new car!
Put that power to the ground pimp!:cowboy:

Being that your still on the stock block with the addition of cams, lowering that pulley ia going to equal kaboom if you don't baby that car, and what's the fun in that. I'm with stkjock if you can't pay to fix it, then don't play right now. Save it for down the road.....

I would think you might want to up that injector too.

You shouldn't have any problems with the 3.4 pulley, swap between the 3.4 and the 3.2 with my car ( I have tunes for both pulleys)

Ditto. All depends on how you drive it too. I was runnin the 3.4 for a couple months. Now Im down to the 3.2 and added cams. I hardly ever push it on the street. And I make about 3 to 5 passes a month on the track. When I was rocking the 3.4 I still had the 60lb injectors and gt500 pumps for a little added security. But if she pops she pops. Just reason to get my motor built faster

Just like you guys are saying, im sure the driving style/frequency will impact the decision. I definitely will get on it every now and then while driving it on the weekend, I get on it every day that I drive it haha. Going to the track will be a different story and i will try to go twice a month but at least once.
What do you think is safer and/or what makes more power, 8lbs with cams or 10lbs without cams? I know the cams will move my powerband , but i am kind of unsure if i even need the cams or would i better off without them. I looooove that rumble though!!

Oh and timbo you will be spanking me if you still have your turbo! You going to the meets this weekend?

I would think the cams would give you more power than a pulley swap.

FWIW, sometime during the summer I plan on adding cams to my car and keeping the 3.4 pulley on.

OP I'm in the same boat you are, but in reverse. I'm running a 3.4 pulley, and considering cams... In the end, it's just a roll of the dice. Be prepared for anything.

I thought I bought your 3.4 a long time ago. I'm beginning to think you sold me a magical pulley that makes 9.5 lbs of boost and traps 100mph in the 1/8th. lol

Yep, I ended up buying another one but most I see with the 3.4 is 8.8 lbs. boost.

As others will tell you; it's all in the tune. There are a few guys on here running over 500rwhp for quite some time now, so it can be done. Zero detonation is key, but there's no guarantee. FI on a stock block, no matter what the boost, is rolling the dice.

Well whatever you decide to do. Hit me up at the track and ill decide what i wanna do with the money you just forked over. Ive talked to Speedtech several times about options. Looks to either be a custom plumbed FRPP manifold or im just saying fuck it and go 76mm single. Either way it will be with the FRPP manifold and TB. Either way my goal is 600-650rwhp DD with car seat in back.

Yeah the cams have multiple benefits over just the pulley swap, specially that lope :beerdrink: .

Yeah we know it can go at any minute, but thats a good excuse for this. http://www.motivatedphotos.com/?id=12193

How many lbs of boost is the 3.6 , 3.4 and 3.2?

The tune is the most important part of the whole setup! That's why i am still unsure about who will dyno tune my stang. I will be happy either way because it puts a big smile everytime i hit booooost!

Either way you will be running strong so its good either way! Thanks for the CL Racer, the saleen loves the bigger intake. As soon as i get it tuned i will take it to the track and see how it does. I am looking for a set of 15x10's with stickies for the track right now so the stag hooks!

Different locations and exhaust will give different boost levels, with the 3.4 that is rated for 9.5lbs. i show 8.8 lbs. on the dyno.

With the 3.2 pulley rated at 11.5 lbs. I show 10.4 lbs. on the dyno.

I have long tubes and O/R H-pipe, near sea-level but high humidity.

Yours can very well be different.
