Are Airaid CAI's really substandard?

I have been meaning to ask this question since I did the base line pulls without the CAI. I pulled 252 rwhp with stock tune. I had removed the CAI to have warranty work done.

When I first got my Airaid and Preditor with the "Airaid tune", I did some dyno pulls and got 284 rwhp. Personally I'm thinking "hmm not to bad".

I ahve read many comments about Airaid being somewhat beneath the norm.

Has there been a miscalculation or misjudgement about the Airaid or did I just get lucky. If the preditor can get 32 rwhp with a substandard CAI, I wonder what can happen with a C&L which Diablo claims they can get up to 40 rwhp out of.

Comments anyone?

At a 15% driveline loss, 252 rwhp is 296.5 fwhp....stock. The 284 rwhp is 334 fwhp, not bad for a CAI and tune (+37.6 fwhp). Personally I think the flow volume of the air raid is probably comparable to the C&L (FYI I'm not impressed with the crummy shroud on my new C&L, which doesn't even seal the gap between the MAF housing and the shroud).

I'd say you're doing well with the gains yu have for the investment, and I'd rather spend the $$ on another mod....like a MGW shifter or better brakes. I'd suggest the CMCV deletes, but its harder to return to stock when you have those done.

I know for sure that 4:10's will be next mod. after that I don't know. I would hate to just throw away 26k more miles of bump to bump warranty. I hate being child in an adults body............(*$#*&E$&*T$Y)(&@^$(^$*&GH$"

sorry you had to hear that......lol

Ok, I guess I should have checked her profile before making the crack, but...... she spelled "teaching" wrong in her profile under "occupation"...:roflmao:
That's because if u look under my AIM s/n and myspace s/n I use TeachinTortuga. It's not spelled wrong, it's just missing a letter.

Nice sentence fragment...:beat:
Ets da entranet. I no needa makey cents!:clap:Spelling on the other hand is important since chances are that if u spell it wrong here, u spell it wrong elsewhere vs grammar/slang on the internet and with friends then using professional language.
