Ford
recommends
10,000 mile changes with semi synthetic 5w20

We should do better then that !

Lol. 8 qts. of oil gets you that extended change interval. I changed the oil at 700 miles. Got 2,600 on the OD now. I will check it at 3,700 and if it is looking good I will check it again at 5,700. If good after that I will check it every 2K miles until 10K. Rinse and repeat. :beerchug2:

yeah but Ford also recommends 7500 mile oil changes in the 6qt 3V...i still change mine every 3k. changing oil early is never a bad thing.

Jim,
Most synthetic manufacturers will advise something like a 5,000 to 7,500 mile oil change. With the Royal Purple we will typically do a filter change and top off at 5K miles then a full change between 7,500/8,000 miles.

did you see Ford's blurb on the 302? About the oil? 5-50 full synthetic.

ford oil is designed for the motor you are using. its specific for the coyote. im using ford semi. google it. you'll find the semi is far better.

walmart carries ford semi, it is the only thing i buy at the place.
Changed the 5.0 last week, $12.0 for 5 qts. Have 1k on car,
later I'll run full syn, prob. mobil1, due to the lower cost they offer
as well as the huge resources they have for science of lubrication.

Damn I love idiots in "oil" threads.

I dont know that its far better, but i'm with you. Its the oil ford uses during testing, and when they give you the vehicle. I'll stick with that.

Also I have 3500 on my car. Checked the oil last week, looks brand new. I'll check again at 5k

If Ford is confident enough to warranty an engine/vehicle with 10,000 mile oil changes using their synthetic blend oils, then that's certainly what I'd recommend using.

Unless someone here as done as much testing on these engines with any aftermarket oil as Ford has with their own oil, then nobody has any ground to stand on when recommending something better. Ford has a lot to lose by choosing a cheap/ineffective oil. When the manufacturer says use it, and they've done all their durability testing with it, and will back your engine with 10,000 mile oil changes because it's so good... I'd certainly use it, and I wouldn't look to anything else.

This isn't a control arm, or shifter where the stock part could use improvement. This is the oil that Ford guarantees your engine with.

your aboslutely right, all i'm saying is if you wanted to switch I think Mobil 1 should be a great option. Both Chevy and Dodge only run mobil 1 in their high performance motors and warranty the motors to 100k

I agree that there are probably equally as good options out there. Mobil 1 is among the best. My argument is towards anyone saying a certain oil is better than what Ford uses. Ford puts confidence in their oil for a reason, if there were a better oil, Ford would probably use it.
