Your gonna like it. I never really liked the way the factory clutch felt. My Exedy has a firm but not harsh pedal. Maybe 20% stiffer than stock if I had to guess. The engagement is solid and predictable. I can "feel" the clutch operation much better than before if that makes sense. Of course that may have something to do with the JPC braided hydraulic line I put in there with it. I noticed a very slight chatter when I first put it in if I engaged it at low rpm but now that I have about 400 miles on it, that's gone. This clutch is so smooth and easy I have a hard time believing it can handle 650 ft lbs. It's simply amazing to me.

Thats exactly what I am looking for. I absolutely hated my Spec 3+. It chattered like a motherfucker, grinded, made my left calf twice the size of my right, and oh yeah...it wore unevenly and went out on me about a month after having it installed.

I have heard too many similar experiences with the Spec line. That's why I stayed away from it. If I had not went with the Exedy, I would have gone with the Mcleod RST or RXT. I think you will be very happy with your choice. I took it easy on mine for a couple of hundred miles but when I finally let it rip, I couldn't stop grinning. That's when I realized my factory clutch was slipping more than I thought ...lol

Thanks Terry, that makes sense. So I guess that the Exedy steel flywheel is still heavy enough to work well with the 281. When I go forged, I may consider getting one. I have got to buy an 8 bolt flywheel then anyway.
Personal opinion I think you would have the BEST of both Worlds.
Lighter than a Stock Steel Flywheel and Heavier than an Aluminum Flywheel.

That is why I went with it.
And I think it is working just fine and REVS Fast.

Well in that case I am getting the Exedy flywheel so I should be okay without the shim. Thanks for all your help on this guys.

KDT, how do you like that jpc cable? Worth it in your opinion?

Worth every penny. It is very well made and it is long enough to take loose and reconnect with the tranny lowered down for easy access. Its a must have imo.
