I was on my 4th pass, just getting used to the sticker(prepped) track. My track usually sucks, but they took good care of it today.

First launches bogged pretty bad, so I upped the launch RPM to about 4300-4500 on the 2nd to last launch. Ran a crappy 1.86' with bogging and ran a 12.08 @ 117.5

So got up to the line again, tried 4700. Right at the launch, I heard a very loud bang, and thats all she wrote. Rear end failed.

Had to tow it home. I'm not really sure what broke, its odd. There is very little noise in the rear end when the driveshaft is rotating. Its strange, I expected much more noise/chattering if there are metal chunks all in there.

The new question is, whats next for a new diff. I'm not sure if I want a spool, as the car is a DD and needs to be good in corners...

A spool is a bad choice for a daily driver... especially on the corners. It excels on the drag strip, but not anywhere else.

At your power level, I'd say the TrueTrac will be a good choice. A locker would be good too, but it's a couple hundred bucks more.

So lockers are stronger than the trutrac, but cost more. I assume the Trutrac drives a bit nicer on the street...

Now how about the Eaton Posi LSD diff?
