Yeah I want those seats!

Also, a 2011 GT500 is $49.5K with no extra options. I think the Boss is awesome and all, but for the money I'd rather get a GT500. Preferably a used one. :) Yeah it doesn't handle like the Boss, but I don't care. I wouldn't be racing it like its intended to be anyway. On the street 100% it doesn't matter.

I honestly think the price will drop.

Heres what i see happening, boss 302 comes out. They sit the price tag at low 40's MAYBE top 30's after all of the markup nonsense goes away. Helps drive the price of the new GT down just a notch more, because you know they aren't going to have the final price of that car sitting in GT500 territory for long.

1.00-1.02G is still better than the GT and on the street is plenty of grip!

No WAY will that work...the Mustang is already the best priced pony car...and they are about $40k loaded...the Boss with be between GT and GT500 pricing. Mid $40k range at the minimum which makes a lot of sense.

Basically if you were to compare the Mustang to Porsche. The GT500 would be the 911 Turbo a fast car with damn good handling but more of a GT car than a pure track star. The Boss would be like the GT3, not as fast in a straight line but a more tactile and pure bred track car.

If your looking for a track star, a 2011 GT is a idea IMHO than the Boss or Laguna Seca. You can modify it to your handling balance and you don't have to hold a Ford dealer at gun point while shoveling 100's into his back pocket to get one.

Yea I was super exicited about the Boss, then saw that it is mostly suspension upgrades and the engine wasn't too far off from stock.

Is that how the old Boss's were? track cars?

Yep that is the Boss's legacy is as a track vehicle. Its tires and suspension and a little more power with a 500 rpm redline. The main reason I believe it to be worth its MSRP minus the markup is the relative rarity.

We'll see. But once the new cars start to rolling there will be incentives/special financing to get the prices down. Hell, the day i got my 2011 there was a 2010 GT fully loaded convertible for 28k bottom line price. I know its not the same, but at the time im sure that 2010 gt was close to 40k.

I am talking about MSRP changes, and right now you can get a 2011 GT500 for MSRP but his Boss promises to be even rarer.

Oh no, suggested retail will stay the same i imagine. But, the whole markup will go away i suspect...

Forged internals, ported heads, cams, intake, suspension, wheels/tires, brakes, etc, etc.

Well, they are RATED at 440 vs the GT's 412. GT makes, what, 360-375 rwhp? I figure cams, ported heads, intake, and higher redline is good for more than 28 hp, dontcha think? :highfive:

We all will have to wait to see, the 500 rpm redline bump and the runners in a box intake should be responsible for over 28 hp by themselves.

Yes actually. They weren't meant to be high hp cars. They made 290 high RPM hp, and were specifically designed for the track.

They said 290...actual number was closer to 400 hp. What is odd is that the Z/28 with the DZ302 was the Boss 302s competition, on the streets and on the race track....some of the most iconic race battles ever were fought with these two cars.

Lol, I've heard people suggest that, but in reality it's just not true. They could be worked over pretty easily to make the bigger numbers but from Ford they were pretty close to advertised. A cam swap alone made an enormous difference. They were over carb'd as well (780 cfm).

A few years ago I owned an all original '70 Boss 302 Cougar Eliminator. The motor revved high, yes. Made big numbers though? Not even close. My '69 Torino Cobra with a 428CJ would walk all over it, and even that wasn't all that impressive in today's standards.

I'll post pics of both in the morning if anyone's interested.

I could have sworn they did a test with a factory Boss 302 rebuild vs the DZ302 and they both made over 350 hp. But again I could be wrong, I thought they made 290 hp flywheel at there rated rpm but made more if revved higher.
