Going autocrossing tomorrow. I leave a lot of rubber. Just wondering when you tape up your back fender do you put anything under the tape (like any product).

Thanks.

If you're getting rubber buildup on your quarter panels when autocrossing, you're doing it wrong. Unless you're one of those douchebags who think they have to do a big smokey burnout everytime you leave the line.

For the rest of us who have this issue when drag racing, just tape. Nothing under it. Tape the front wheel well lips too because of potential rock chips from your skinny ass front tires screaming from the lack of grip your 4000 lb brick will be experiencing (true story, your car (heavy ass camaro) pushes worse than a GT500).

Unless you're drifting you shouldn't need to tape for autocross.
I just use blue tape at the strip on the rear. but yea won't hurt

And the 2011 GT500 pushes less than any factory Mustang....

Well my car grips as good as an ice skater... Just from driving on the street, if I'm driving fast I will get home and have rubber build up on my quarter panels.

So just tape the front wheel well lips is your advice?

I've never been autocrossing and I'm the type of guy that either goes big or goes home, so I'm sure I'll be spinning out plenty.

PS I just got my first sticker on my rear window for some horsepower! Can't wait to show it off. +30rwhp according to the seller.

Nah it's the ricerkiller.com one.

I've asked multiple times for a s197forum one and no one seems to have one/willing to sell me one. I'd really put it on my car if there was one available.

I recommend using a product called Rejex Polymer Sealant - it protects your paint and makes it easy to remove the rubber that marks up the paint during track events.

I have some of that at home if you apply it right a sponge will remove any tire residue.
