Of all the PD blowers, I'd get the Edelbrock. :2cents:

Not quite sure I like the E-Force/Edelbrock blower either. It seems way more over complicated then a blower needs to be. I don't like the compressor being berried under that mountain of aluminum.

Id definitely be choosing between KB and Whipple; but like I said before Whipple's fit and finish is the decision maker for me between the two.

A lot of the KB components just have a crude appearance to me - barely machined block of steel pulleys, low grade silicone hose clamps, brass/teflon hardware store fittings (wtf), plain looking aluminum mammoth intake, etc...

Those are all things that are minute but still unacceptable to me for the amount of money these kits cost.

It's to accommodate longer intake runners which nets more low-end torque. Not sure how it's really any more complicated than any other screw supercharger. Edelbrock, Roush TVS, Saleen, Whipple, Kenne Bell...I don't think you'd be displeased with any of 'em.

Thats what we need! More low end torque on street tires! :roflmao:

I only took a quick glance at the Edel, just appeared to be way more material then needed...

The TVS builds boost with rpm so it's a little easier to launch.

It is a little taller...like the Saleen. What I like about the Edelbrock is the bigger throttle body and the front inlet. The Whipple has a lot of tight bends for the air to travel through, which is probably more restrictive.

The E-Force valve cover covers do look stupid, though...fortunately they are optional.

The mono or twin blade throttle bodies that come/are available with the whipple aren't that restrictive (I think 132mm+), they will out flow what most of us will put to the crank (the E-Force has an 85mm mono)... I'm sure there will be many more bolt up intakes and throttle bodies that fit the whipple platform as its been very similar over the years (GT/GT500 wise). The intake off to the side such as the whipple/KB also allows much more clearance for large straight intake tubes.

That crusher inlet is HUGE...., there is only one bend in the inlet (if you want to even call it a bend since the damn thing is so large), which is at the inlet to the compressor housing; the edel inlet doesn't look nearly as large, and the intake tubing is not a straight shot either (since it must go off to the side for clearance issues).

Also It looks as if that compressor on the E-force discharges 'upward', through the intercooler, and back down again, which is a bad design if you want to do a single point ninth injector, wet nitrous injection, or methanol/water... It appears to have more internal turns then the KB/Whipple setup working against gravity.

I am not so sure about RPM dependent boost on a TVS, but id imagine the E-Force TVS isn't too RPM dependent given its 'roots' :-D and better low end TQ.

Aside from all that jazz I still don't like the way it looks.

Sell the x and the long tubes and get the exile twins. There are pleanty of people buying the 5.0s that will want them and you could sell them for only a slight loss IMO. You won't loose any low end and when you want to slam it well you'll start building boost and by 3500 you'll be flying!

And when you drive through a large puddle you will wash out the engine (bad experience with STS and that design). :roflmao:

Rather have E. Bay mounted twins or a big single with a shot of nitrous for lag elimination.

Looks can be deceiving...the area is what counts, not millimeters...and a circle gives you more area than an oval. And I'm not talking aftermarket pieces...just what the base blower comes with.

The blower blows up through the intercooler then hits the runners, which is a long, smooth 90-degree tube right down into the engine. A Whipple blows down onto the intercooler, makes a 180-degree turn up and then another 180 back down into the engine. Plus, of course, the 270-degree turn the air has to make to get into the blower in the first place.

Just nitpicking here, but the Edelbrock designers did their homework and is more creative than a Whipple or Kenne Bell.

What I'm saying is the psi doesn't peak immediately.

I believe the new whipple kit will come with a GT5 twin bore throttle body ;). Both wont be ideal for a single point injection then with all those turns (E85 it is).

Id put money on that Whipple intake tract flowing more though oval or round...

I still dont like the way the edel looks (i like to be staring at the compressor when I open the hood); but to each their own!

Wonder what that thing weighs in comparison?

A lot of PD blowers wont peak immediately, not just the TVS. I had an MP90 that wouldn't peak until 60% of the rev range was up.

re decision

You cant go wrong with a Kenne Bell period. The blower battles are just barely getting started, but you will see who the victor will be on the street and most importantly(to us racers) the track. Ill help you guys out, It WILL be the Kenne Bell. However, proving it will be fun, so I'll do that, even with our sucky West Coast air and terrible da'.
Bottom line, everyone has a particular taste, and there is definitley enough options out there to handle your needs. Im just glad Ford gave us a great platform to mod. Thanks Adam

What makes you so sure you KB will rule the whip by enough to make it that noticeable adam?

Is KB gonna fix some of the chintzy crap I see in all the pictures?

Is this big change something we will see soon?

This is very nice... Thats a nice looking intake tract, and a nice looking pulley setup. Can we get this?

I agree with the rectalrampage feller. PD is the way to go.

There have been many dyno's posted across the interwebs, that show some Cent blowers actually post lower torque number then stock at low rpms before it builds enough boost to counter the parasitic loss.

with the higher displacement on these, the centri and pd's are almost identical, the torque is withing 5 or 10 on both of these

the stick and auto both have pretty stout gearing and who cares what your doing at 1500 to 2500 anyway

Apparently the OP cares what hes doing at that rev range, or anyone thats cruising on the highway in 6th that wants a little extra go on tilt in with out down shifting.

what gears are in the car? I'll be going with a BIG centri unit in the next few weeks, and I promise boost will come on hard and have a nice power curve. But I also have 4:30 gears... SO far the KB seems to have the best potential for the price. The 2.9 whipple is only offered as an upgrade, so you have to buy there 7000 dollar 2.3, then upgrade (3k) to the 2.9. For 10k you could have the nastiest KB out there. The FRPP kits are great if you want a little more power and fun, but nothing crazy. That's just my opinion tho

+1..Why is someone is basing their decision on what type of lower to get on how it will pull in 6th gear at highway speed? I dont understand the whole point behind this thread..

It's advantages in driveability under every condition/scenario is something you take into account when its a street driven vehicle.

I don't see why greater tilt in power/response under normal driving conditions when you want it is a bad thing.

Id never buy a belt driven turbo either, I don't see the point other then manufacturing cost and space.

PD Blower or Turbo + Nitrous for me, no middle ground.

If the PD blower has great top end power, great mid-range power, great low end power, and great tilt-in high gear response - to me its an excellent street candidate.

Roots blowers have incredible low end and mid range but lack the top end power, cents are better at midrange to top end then roots, and the screw PD blowers seem to be the best all around other then a properly sized turbo.
