I don't know how he did it, but Santa found a way to squeeze an Aluminator down the chimney for me for christmas. Now that I have it, any suggestions on any must do items before I put it in the car. I am looking forward to turning up the boost on the Helion.

Here's the thread you should read through for tips and whatnot.

Why thank you very much...

I was going to suggest that but didn't want to be presumptuous. There is a lot of good information in that thread including part numbers and torque specs - may save you some time. It will also document each step of the build process and bring some items to your attention you may not have thought of ahead of time.

You deserve the credit for all the information you took the time to post. It's members like you on this board that help make this the GO-TO board for S197 information!

EDIT: I'm slowly looking back through it for the information I'm going use to replace the timing parts on my engine. I've never done any engine work but I'm going to try and grow a pair and do the valve springs, retainers & seals, lash adjusters, timing chains, tensioners & guides myself this winter. I'm nervous about it but I'm looking at it as a learning experience. My biggest fear is the valve springs since I have to pressurize the cylinders to keep the valves from dropping down.

Thanks for the time you put in to helping everyone else on this board!

Even with pressurizing the cylinders there is still a risk of pushing them down while doing the springs. But good luck and have fun, you will be fine!

So I am assuming that with your turbo you went with the 9.8:1 CR for the Aluminator?

Make sure you turn to tdc every time and you will be fine. I understand the fear and it will keep you on your toes but the biggest deal will be those little keepers. Make sure you plug all the oil drains before starting.
