Hey guys, I've hand the stang out durning these last couple of snow storms here in Jersey, figured I'd give you my 2 cents on these's tires.

Car: 06 Mustang GT
Modds: CAI, tune, 4.10 gears.
tire size: 255/45/18
Tires: Sottozero 240
Old tires: Hankook v4 all seasonal

I’ll start this review with my opinion on the tires in the dry. The only thing I like more about my Pep Boy tires is they did not “pull” with the road. The Sottozero will pull on any imperfection on the road. For anyone who lives in or near South Jersey, the Cherry Hill Police most think I’m drunk some times when I drive down RT. 70. However, I’m use to performance tires “pulling” and have no problem dealing with it (for now). The traction is a big improvement and the car handles much better (good as its getting for a mustang on stock shocks). I have no experience with driving my car on an actual “snow” tire but these “winter” tires can be driven year around.

I’ve had the chance to drive the car in two snow storms, one being considered “blizzard” conditions. The car will at times still kick out at a dead stop however it’s been reduce tremendously and for the most part, I can get going with no problem with minimum spin. My girlfriend feels as though the car handles tremendously better in the snow vs. last year with the hankooks. I’ve hit a couple spots of black ice on 295 and I don’t know how much I can blame the tires but there is NO traction what so ever. Without a doubt the car has minimum wheel spin and when the car does go sideways (sometimes on purpose lol), there is a lot more control!

Overall, I give the tires 4/5 stars for an overall performance. The tires are a little expensive; I have not had the chance to compare them to other winter or even snow tires. Like most “performance” tires, they do “pull” on roads to which some people, that may be unacceptable.

haha, if you want to challenge those tires come up north... I left Cherry hill this morning and thought I'd be fine because the main roads weren't bad, I even got excited when the turnpike was perfect. But Rt195 and its 3 inches of packed snow was sketchy, then the local roads in Jackson were a nail biting sleigh ride

I've got the BFGoodrich KDWS 235/50's on now, stock off an 08 mustang i believe.

It handled better than I though it would, there were a few white knuckle tail wagging uphills on 195 and local roads, but I made it home pretty drama free

not sure if you've heard this train of thought as well, but next set of tires you may do better to go with 235's or even 225's.. as when cutting through snow the advantage goes to the skinnier tire (more weight on less surface helps push down through the snow)

Ya, I've heard of the skinner tire & prob will go w/ a 235/50 next time. Did you hit any ice (black ice really) on the way? How did the car do if so? My tires seem to do ok in snow, slush, & such but on 295 across the over passes ( I knw, they freeze under) but I was so happy I was stuck in traffic doing like 5 mph max.

I may look into an actual snow tire...

No ice, i left when the sun was highest to hopefully avoid any (and it worked). I lifted at all the underpasses on the tpike to be sure i wouldn't have the ass push around, but tihnk it was still water there
