Not absolutely required. If you go wth an H or V rating you’ll be fine. For a bit more chunkiness on the stock wheels you can switch to 255/45R18 all around which will be approx. 3/4” wider, and very close in overall diameter.

It depends on what your goals are? Persional opinion, but I am not a fan of taking away a speed rating from a tire in a performance car. If it had ZR's on it I would be keep the rating.

Fast Ed makes a good point in going smaller diameter for a chunkier side wall which in theory on the right tire would help with traction off the line.

Tires are one of the most underratted mods you can do. They can change how a car feels so make sure you are getting tires that suit your needs. Without knowing more, it is hard to go wrong with michelin's stable of tires. Expensive, but usually class leading or top 3.

I'll just add that the wrong tires can ruin the handling and comfort. Or worse, put the car in a ditch.
I use the Tirerack customer reviews to get a balance of price and tire capability. Look for the reviews of people who drive a similar type vehicle under similar weather conditions and have driven thru the winter.
A mother thing to add.....those tire rating markings like AAA 400 etc? Are only comparable to other tires by the same manufacturer! Not from one brand to another....think about that.
