Ok, so I know when it comes to adding mods that the first question is what are your goals. So with all of the M90 supercharger threads where people say that the mid to low 400's is plenty of horsepower, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper, with the same effect, to get the on 3 turbo? I, like most people, am trying to figure out the best bang for my buck. And I was just wondering if I am missing something. I don't need 10,000hp, I am wanting mid 400's, and I am figuring that the 3:55 gears would also be fine with the turbo (for now anyways).

So I guess my question is am I missing something?? Or are turbos just that much more of a hassle??

I know the whole on3 thing has been beaten into the ground, but with the cost of mods to these cars, there is a lot of money to be saved by going the turbo route. And just the savings over a supercharger that is by far cheaper than others, plus not needing long tubes makes me question this whole thing.....

Its simple the M90 is a simple combo that comes with a tune that you will never have to worry about. Turbo's typically require more tuning and more attention but in return they make more power per lb of boost than any other power adder. Plus the On3 kit comes with parts that need to be upgraded.

The thing i hate about turbos is running the oil lines and the super hot super high RPM that they operate at.

Also, you get a lot more instant thrown-back-in-the-seat effect with roots blowers, in general.

I like my power house turbo. If you are looking to upgrade to fi then eventually you will want to upgrade the m90 without being able to do so. Go on 3 with an upgrated turbo and a few others. If you want more power In the future you up boost and retune. Turbos are cooler anyway:popcorneat:

I agree comparing an M90 kit to a turbo kit is like comparing a knife to a gun, in the end a knife is set it and forget it. But when you need a gun, your ok with its greater complexity in exchange for the much bigger kick it provides.

lets not forget torque curves. on a DD that wants streetable power most people prefer the "feel" of a twin screw.

:thumb: for just street use I agree. A turbo will need more rpm to accomplish it's power. It should make more power, but driving around town the added low rpm thrust of a roots type s/c will be more fun.

Ok for you driving around town guys, I've never driven a roots or twin screw mustang. I have however ridin in one. if you don't have slicks or atleast some meats on your car first and second are useless anyway. I mean I can mat the gas in second and spin all the way through. How much more fun do you need. If you mean more grunt from 1500 rpms, well sure but who cruises that slow. If I want to have fun I'm in the proper gear to do it.

Yeah I guess I still don't see where the extra money is worth it. My car doesn't get a whole lot of driving, maybe 2-3000 miles a year, so I would hope the turbo would hold up for a while. My friends turbo fox doesn't seem to have any issues at all with a power band.

And Germeezy, as to the upgrages you were referring to, they wouldn't need to be done right away would they?? Could I work off the turbo kit for maybe the first year and then upgrade or is it something that would need to be taken care of right away?

Not true, you can size a turbo to give you right off idle boost and a stupid midrange. How do you think cars like the GT500 have a 4200 rpm torque peak and 4 cylinder turbo Audi's have a 2,500 rpm torque peak?

:thumb: for just street use I agree. A turbo will need more rpm to accomplish it's power. It should make more power, but driving around town the added low rpm thrust of a roots type s/c will be more fun.

With a properly sized turbo kit with a billet wheel its not uncommon to see full boost in the 2500-3000 rpm range. What the heck do you need with 500 rwtq at 1800 rpm? How are you going to hook that power?

You are getting it, a properly setup turbo system can give you full boost from under 3000 rpm and carry it all the way close to redline. For the most part with proper turbo sizing you can almost get whatever powerband you decide. But again why would you want a torque peak at 1500 rpm?

The On3 turbo kit hotside is perfectly fine, you will need a dyno tune...which may take some time. You will also need an upgraded BOV over there cheap chinese crap one and a proper turbo. The turbo and BOV is where you should spend your money , because thats going to make the difference as far as driveability.
