Spent 5 hours last weekend detailing the exterior. Here are a few closeup iPhone pictures. I'll post better ones when I have some free time to take pictures.

Detailing products I used:

-Meguiar's Claybar
-Meguiar's Ultimate Compound
-Meguiar's Scratch X
-Meguiar's Ultimate Polish
-Meguiar's NXT Wax (2 Coats)

All done with a DA. Paint color is Tungsten Gray.

Very nice. Not sure how you did all that in 5 hours, though.

It was a quick job for a "full detail". I could have taken my time and been much more meticulous about it, but I got a late start and rushed through it a bit. I'm still happy with the result, though.

I'm still stumped on how you washed, clay bared, compounded, polished, and then put on 2 coats of NXT in 5 hours.

Did you just apply the products and wipe them off??

I allow 6 hours for just my compounding and polishing process.

By the way. Next time let the NXT cure for 24 hours between coats. Contrary to popular belief, it's a sealant and more curing time is needed for optimum results.

I agree. I've used a lot of the high dollar stuff in the past and finally just stopped ordering it. I've found that Mequiar's Ultimate Compound is excellent for newer cars. It removes light swirls, light water spots and just in general, preps the surface very well with my G110v2. You might have to go over a water spot area two or three times to fully clear the surface up, but you can do so with no worries about damaging your paint. Then, using their Ultimate Wax, little really is more with that stuff, just makes the car shine with a depth and reflection that's awesome for the price of the materials. It also beads water up for a good long time. And the Mequiar's Ultimate Wax is fully synthetic. So it won't turn your black trim white. No more taping the car up!!! Which saves a hell of a lot of time right there. As long as you give the Ultimate Wax enough time to fully dry, it comes off very easily by hand.

I also use Mequiar's Mirror Glaze line of products for for serious paint work. The only thing that sucks about using that line is all the pads you have to keep separate for each step. I'm about to completely redo the paint on my 1996 Dodge Ram. It has gotten really bad since my son started driving it over a year ago. He now has a car, so I am driving the truck more often than before. I can't stand rolling around in a vehicle with paint that can be repaired with a little elbow grease.

Agreed. Applying another coat in any time less than 12-24 hours is only wasting product. The first coat hasn't set up enough and it'll just be removed as you apply the next coat.
