I just installed my new O/R xpipe from bbr. Other then a set of gt500 mufflers and a bbr tune(not the one for the xpipe) the car is stock. I took the car for a ride and feel like the car has lost power. I did get a new tune with the x pipe but also got a Jlt and since i didnt get around to installing the Jlt tonight i didnt want to load the new tune in. Has anyone installed the xpipe without the tune and noticed a similar issue?

Did you get a CEL? The stock tune is not happy without cats and may dump fuel to cool down cats it thinks is overheating but isn't really there, which can cause you to run rich and hurt performance. I'd put the JLT on and install the tune and see how it runs.

I got the OR/X from John and loaded his tune. I could tell a very noticeable seat of the pants improvement. The car pulled like crazy above 4,500RPM and seemed to rev faster. I definitely gained power.

you may be noticing a shift in the powerband, making the car "feel" slower.

You probably lost a bit of low-end.
It should make more power up top though.

Ok well sounds to me like I need to get the Jlt and tune on first thing in the morning. I also got a slight leak from the xpipe. I double checked and tightened everything. Did you guys run into the same. I figure i will put it on the lift tomorrow and see if i can locate where the leak is. Its not ticking just a light leak.

Get everything installed properly and i'm sure you will be satisfied. I've had offroad mid pipes on everyone of my mustangs and i have never been unhappy.

Is the torque loss down low with O/R midpipes bad enough to feel? If so, IMO, it would not be worth losing the down low power for some upper RPM power.

Not criticizing, just curious about the experience folks have with them.

I decided t run hi-flow cats to help down low a bit and keep the noise down. On the street down low is where it counts, how often are you bringing it to 7,300rpm.

Is there really a loss down low with an offroad xpipe? I thought that was a myth.

With these cars, a reflash of the tune is needed. It will feel sluggish without doing so. These cars computers are way too smart in a sense, but they don't always recognize modifications and upgrades. Therefore, it did notice the cats were gone, but didn't know how to fix it.

My butt dyno "felt" no loss down low. If anything, the engine seems to rev out faster to get you in the upper RPM range quicker.

if its not tuned for the mods, you can and probably will lose power.

when we put my intake on, the car started, loped badly, then died. I believe they say you need a custom tune for the xpipe on most sites. may not throw a code, but wont run right

I recently had BBR's O/R X-Pipe put on my car. Bolted to the stock headers and welded in on the other side. Since I was running my exhaust stock from the headers to the back where I had the mufflers removed and straight pipe put in, my car got obnoxiously loud once the X-Pipe was in. So I had Flowmaster Super 44's put on.

Then, I uploaded BBR's 93 octane tune. Lemme tell you something. Before I had this X-Pipe and tune from BBR, I could be in 2nd gear at 3500RPM, punch it, and get little to no tire spin. Now though, the back tires just light the hell up! So with the tune, you aren't losing anything down low from my experience.

The MAF needs to be remapped.

For the x-pipe, you need to shut off the rear O2s and turn off the Cat Over-Temp function.

I just installed the Airaid and BBR 93 tune. I do not have the BBR o/r x pipe installed yet as they said 2 weeks or so before it will arrive. My car runs like crap. Bucks very bad when cold and poor idle and not much better when warm. I sent an email today but no response so far.

Insert in or out?

In will not require a tune adjustment. Out will require an adjustment.

I am guessing out and the BBR tune doesn't account for this.
