Thinking about throwing on Headers and catted X-Pipe. I've heard mixed reviews about them though. Constant exhaust leaks, blown header gaskets, etc. Are they worth the extra HP? What's the best brand? Thinking of either Kooks or American Racing. Don't want any with fitment or rubbing issues. Too much of an aggravation? I'll appreciate your inputs, thanks in advance.

Kooks here. Ran them with their high flow cats for the last few years and just took the cats off and put on their O/R down pipes. Perfect fit on everything.

i dont think they do much in the way of hp but i do very much like the looks/sound they provide. i would use factory gaskets. and fwiw i have pypes LT's and have no complaints.

i have used pypes LT with o/r h-pipe and it's perfect fit and sound. personally, i don't think headers are worth it on the expensive brands.

*edit, i bought the pypes system used and it's on my car. did want it to be confused with used, as in for sale...lol

YOu guys have any issues with header bolts always loosening?

if your using locking bolts your good, regular bolts i would check every few days for a week or two when the headers go through a cold/heat cycle from driving. They may or may not loosen but good idea to double check

JBA LT's and hi-flow catted H, with Roush extreme cat back and I love it. Used stock gaskets, great fitment, price, the flanges are amazing and the sound is amazing. Also price is top notch. Paid under $1000 for them from American Muscle. Email tune from AM and along with JLT intake, the long tubes really woke this car up. JBA gets my vote!!

I have pypes and they were garbage. wish I spent the extra money on kooks

LOL, 1 5/8 is good up to 400-450 hp na at best. You should have gotten 1 3/4-1 7/8 from ARH.

With Boost, bigger is better.

Sell the pypes and go get the right headers for your set up.

Yes, do it. Headers are worth it if you get the right ones.

Short of going 800hp+ there are minimal gains between the 1 5/8 and 1 3/4. Granted, there is some, so if buying the first time, o.k., but not worth swapping out.

im sure the intake/tune didn't have anything to do with that gain...
