Headers...Yes or No?

I have bbks. I used percys seal for good gaskets and reused the stock studs. No rubbing no leaking and no nuts coming loose. I picked up 1 mpg highway and a noticeable amount of power.

So the general consensus is to go for a better name brand, bigger headers and no one seems to complain about loose header blots or blown gaskets.

Definitely concider MAC long tubes. Everyone likes them and they are 1 3/4 and ceramic coated for about $475

I called brenspeed and asked them which ones to buy. They said pypes. Installed last Easter and have been loving it ever since. No issues installing and non since. Did not use locking nuts and bolts are still tight. I did use percy gaskets. One thing you MUST have to install is a 13mm flex head racheting wrench. Your hands will thank me.

I'm interested in the MAC's as well but the only midpipe setup I'm aware of is the prochamber which cost as much as the headers themselves.

3vs197-I had the tune, intake, and cat-back on already, then after put the long tubes on and I still noticed a great improvement.
One of the first things after I would do again after a CAI, tune, and cat-back is to get long tubes. Can't say enough and I get many many compliments.

I like my Macs, I think the Prochamber is worth the money.

I am running BBK shorty headers (picked them up for a great price and since we had the motor out put them on - nice sound, but not much in HP gain or MPG). The headers are ceramic coated - whichever header you decide to go with I would spend the extra bucks to get the ceramic coating. Having to do it over again I would go with long-tube headers.

And I used the hardware that came with the headers and have had no leaks!

been looking into headers myself. Was leaning toward the Kooks combo, but they are so damn expensive. Read a lot of good reivews for JBA and found a LT o/r H pipe combo for $710 shipped from stage3motorsports.com My only dilema is wether I want to deal with not having cats every 2 years for emissions...once I go with LTs the stock cat mid pipe won't fit...so then what.?

Short of going 800hp+ there are minimal gains between the 1 5/8 and 1 3/4. Granted, there is some, so if buying the first time, o.k., but not worth swapping out.

On these cars, sure and gains are gaines and satisfaction is what he wants. Might be worth it to him and that depends on what he is building and his cash. I am married and wife goes through shoes, she buys new ones even if there is nothing wrong with the ones she has. He don't like the shoes. Sell them and buy new ones if that is what he feels he needs to be satisfied.

Plus someone could get a set of pypes on the cheap and be happy with them.

I also had CAI, deletes, and a tune and experienced noticeable power gains after installing my Dynatech 1 3/4" LTs with catted x-pipe. Great fit, no rubbing, no gasket issues. They take some effort to install but I would not hesitate to add headers again. Love the sound and power.

I like my Macs, I think the Prochamber is worth the money.

I just read an old article in Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine and it had a long tube header shootout. Macs produced the most HP and TQ with Kooks being a close second. Both had no fitment issues whatsoever and were the easiest to install. I would need an catted H or X pipe because of NH inspection.

I used Stainless Nord Locks per Natural1's recommendation when I replaced the Stage 8 locking header bolts. Much easier than the Stage 8's.
