Starting with the 2010 GT500 and then all 2011 models, Ford changed the ball joint specification which prevented fitment of our previous X5 ball joint kit.

After a long design and testing period we have finally released the X11 ball joint which fits 2010 GT500, all 2011 and 2012 Mustang models.

Like our previous ball joints, the X11 design is a longer ball joint which on lowered cars raises the front roll center improving front steering response and overall front cornering grip.

When using the ball joint which relocates the outer control arm pivot point, a bump steer kit must be used with it because the relocation changes the geometry between the control arm and the tie rod ends which increases bump steer. The bump steer kit allows you to correct this.

How does it differ from the earlier ones? Is it larger/stronger/etc or just 'different' in that it needed to be redesigned to fit the new A-arms?

You see the first sentence?:thud:

"Ford changed the ball joint specification which prevented fitment of our previous X5 ball joint kit. "

Exactly this, its different and needed to be redesigned to fit the new models. I believe Ford did make the 2011 version slightly stronger as well, ours exceeds even those specifications.

So just to be 100% clear, is it the same X5 ball joint with a redesigned housing, or is the X11 going to be a little more robust than the X5 is? As in, would there be an advantage to upgrading to the new A-arms and using the X11 vs. the old A-arms and the X5?

The X11 is a clean sheet design. Both the X5 and the X11 are stronger than stock. Out of the 2 I believe the X11 has a slightly higher tensile strength, but either one exceeds stock strength specifications.
