I just got a custom email tune and am trying to load it onto my sct tuner. I followed the instructions and downloaded the updater from the sct website but when I plug in my tuner the screen lights up and it says "init filesystem..." then makes a click noise and turns off, it does this over and over. Any help would be great. It installed the device driver and everything like the instructions said. Please help, I cant wait to put the tune on my car! In the email the guy said that i need live load 3? I couldnt find this anywhere either....

Yes, you need Liveload, which is a PC application that is available on SCT's web site. Go to the Tech Support tab, then Device Updates. Enter your tuner type on the pulldown, select Device update software on the other pulldown, and hit search. You'll see a download link there.

Or click this link.

Did you install the file called LiveLoadFord.exe? That's the filename I have for Live Load 3.

What OS do you have? Is it 32bit or 64bit? SCT software right now does not work on 64bit OSes but supposedly they will early 2010.

ok that isnt going to work because I have an X3. The wierd thing though is that it says SF3 at the bottom with the SF3 PN. When I plug it in it give me the screen that says "init filesystem" and it just click on and off. Anyone had this problem?

FYI, I got LiveLoad to work on 64-bit Windows 7.

Could you tell me how? I have not been able to get it to work for me. I have win7 64bit. So in the mean time, I've had to boot up this old XP 32bit machine I have or borrow a notebook w/ xp on it. A few times I used my computer at work. ;)

I thought I had it working months ago on Win7 64bit Release Candidate from a beta driver from SCT or something but I can't find that file now. Maybe I dreamed that I did, lol!

I'm pretty sure the tuner is programmed from the distributor to match your PCM code (4 character code on the pcm inside the engine bay) If not, the distributor can reprogram the tuner to match a new vehicle. Don't quote me for sure but I think thats how it works.

Once programmed for your car, it's married to YOUR car. You can return yours to the stock tune and unlock it to be used on another vehicle, but it would have to be the same model of Mustang.

So... no.

As long as the tuner is unlocked, you should be able to load a tune on it. I believe the XCal will work on any Ford vehicle. Just remember that it can only be used on one vehicle at a time and the tune has to be written for your PCM strategy code. All tunes these days are locked to the serial number of the XCal also so you'd need to get the tune modified to the serial number of the new XCal.

Mr.CuBaN, I think you would be better off just buying the X3. Its a valuable tool to have for the S197 especially when troubleshooting certain things rather than taking your car in to the dealership.

I have an X2 9400 and I've loaded the drivers first and then LiveLoad and when I plug in the X2 I get "ERROR-No XC2 devices found".

Running Win 7 64bit. Help...

Just worked on my wife's Win 7 32bit. I thought SCT updated their software to work on 64bit systems...
