Huh, came across my own thread looking to see if anyone had experience with a different - related - problem. Figured I'd do a lil update on this. The tapping noise is indeed my shifter. The red poly bushings were... well, there weren't any anymore. Popped some new ones in from Hurst and...
Thanks for the replies, looks like I'll just pick up another one like I got last time. I usually steer OEM on this kinda stuff - you never really know how the aftermarket guys were able to make it so cheap and sometimes I'd rather not find out.
Hey all, I recently went to my local ford dealer to pick up a new VCT solenoid to replace the passenger side one. I had already replaced the driver's side solenoid.
The parts guy pulled up on his fancy computer what part I would need and if he had it when he asks what side I needed - kinda...
Sounds great - especially on a good set of headphones!
I had noticed when the engine idles down from the cold start it sounds like there’s some sort of rattle. It starts fast but dramatically slows down and eventually fades away. Any idea what that might be?
I have to say its quite disappointing to have phaser knock at hot idle from brand new phasers. My driver's side one has knocked at hot idle since outta the box - but of course you don't find out until you buttoned everything back up and try it.
I'd be interested in hearing a sound bite of...
I have to admit I haven’t done anything about the noise yet, figured I would wait until winter when it’s sitting in the garage anyway.
My plan was to try and get a new phaser through warranty, though I haven’t looked to see what the warranty on a ford performance timing kit is from summit. I...
It's a 4.6 with a 5 speed. With the miles it has on it, I'm not chasing performance, just a fun driver. I figure an intake with axle backs would at least sound cool.
My brother has a 4.0 I'd be interested if an intake/tune would make much of a change there haha.
Hey there guys
Recently I had noticed a worn spot in my intake tube that may or may not be letting air in past the maf sensor. It's still been running great. Regardless, I've been interested in getting a fancy lookin CAI anyways to replace this with.
I know the general consensus is to not...
Yes, I know my passenger side tensioner had blown its gasket. However, I replaced all that in a timing kit I did over the winter. Along with roller followers and lash adjusters - I'd like to think I didn't get a bad one right outta the box!
With a mechanics stethoscope I hear it best on the...
I too had this leak. But I was able to replace the brittle plastic part that broke without removing the intake and just removing the alternator (already had it off for other reasons).
If you dont mind a mild case of bloody knuckles it is possible to do this without removing all the crap on top...
Just a late update in case anyone was curious: replaced driver side VCT solenoid and it did not effect the noise. Half of the bottom screen came apart in my hands when I took it out though.
I wish they would've included them in the kit because I woulda put them in if they did. Honestly I only did all the timing gear because I knew I had a blown out chain tensioner. The inside was super clean to my surprise. The local dealer parts guy chuckled and said they have a lot of them in...
I put melling oil and water pumps on but I wonder what the quality would be for timing components. I've heard good results from OEM parts generally.
I'm thinking of trying a new Solenoid on the driver side since thats the side that is making the noise.
Hey folks, I'm hoping you all might be able to help me pinpoint the source of a noise my '07 gt is making at idle.
The noise it makes is sort of a light knocking/tapping sound.
-It doesn't happen right away from a cold start - it takes a minute or two before it becomes audible.
-On warm...
