    Interesting Noise at Idle

Huh, came across my own thread looking to see if anyone had experience with a different - related - problem. Figured I'd do a lil update on this. The tapping noise is indeed my shifter. The red poly bushings were... well, there weren't any anymore. Popped some new ones in from Hurst and...

VCT Actuator Solenoids - Left vs. Right

Thanks for the replies, looks like I'll just pick up another one like I got last time. I usually steer OEM on this kinda stuff - you never really know how the aftermarket guys were able to make it so cheap and sometimes I'd rather not find out.

VCT Actuator Solenoids - Left vs. Right

Hey all, I recently went to my local ford dealer to pick up a new VCT solenoid to replace the passenger side one. I had already replaced the driver's side solenoid. The parts guy pulled up on his fancy computer what part I would need and if he had it when he asks what side I needed - kinda...

2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt cold start video.

Sounds great - especially on a good set of headphones! I had noticed when the engine idles down from the cold start it sounds like there’s some sort of rattle. It starts fast but dramatically slows down and eventually fades away. Any idea what that might be?

    Cam phaser replacement question

I have to say its quite disappointing to have phaser knock at hot idle from brand new phasers. My driver's side one has knocked at hot idle since outta the box - but of course you don't find out until you buttoned everything back up and try it. I'd be interested in hearing a sound bite of...

    Interesting Noise at Idle

I have to admit I haven’t done anything about the noise yet, figured I would wait until winter when it’s sitting in the garage anyway. My plan was to try and get a new phaser through warranty, though I haven’t looked to see what the warranty on a ford performance timing kit is from summit. I...

    Intakes Systems... without a Tune

It's a 4.6 with a 5 speed. With the miles it has on it, I'm not chasing performance, just a fun driver. I figure an intake with axle backs would at least sound cool. My brother has a 4.0 I'd be interested if an intake/tune would make much of a change there haha.

    Intakes Systems... without a Tune

Hey there guys Recently I had noticed a worn spot in my intake tube that may or may not be letting air in past the maf sensor. It's still been running great. Regardless, I've been interested in getting a fancy lookin CAI anyways to replace this with. I know the general consensus is to not...

    Interesting Noise at Idle

Yes, I know my passenger side tensioner had blown its gasket. However, I replaced all that in a timing kit I did over the winter. Along with roller followers and lash adjusters - I'd like to think I didn't get a bad one right outta the box! With a mechanics stethoscope I hear it best on the...

Hi all new here . Anyone help idea coolant smell low fluid in expansion tank

I too had this leak. But I was able to replace the brittle plastic part that broke without removing the intake and just removing the alternator (already had it off for other reasons). If you dont mind a mild case of bloody knuckles it is possible to do this without removing all the crap on top...

    Interesting Noise at Idle

Just a late update in case anyone was curious: replaced driver side VCT solenoid and it did not effect the noise. Half of the bottom screen came apart in my hands when I took it out though.

    Interesting Noise at Idle

I wish they would've included them in the kit because I woulda put them in if they did. Honestly I only did all the timing gear because I knew I had a blown out chain tensioner. The inside was super clean to my surprise. The local dealer parts guy chuckled and said they have a lot of them in...

    Interesting Noise at Idle

I put melling oil and water pumps on but I wonder what the quality would be for timing components. I've heard good results from OEM parts generally. I'm thinking of trying a new Solenoid on the driver side since thats the side that is making the noise.

    Interesting Noise at Idle

I got a ford performance timing kit from summit racing and ford performance followers/adjusters from a dealer. I did not change the solenoids though.

    Interesting Noise at Idle

Hey folks, I'm hoping you all might be able to help me pinpoint the source of a noise my '07 gt is making at idle. The noise it makes is sort of a light knocking/tapping sound. -It doesn't happen right away from a cold start - it takes a minute or two before it becomes audible. -On warm...

took cams off,, not sure what to think

Looks like you have the older style roller followers. Since you have the cams off it wouldn’t be anything - but the cost of getting them - to just put a set of new style ones on there. It should help keep better oil pressure as well. If not that, pick ‘em all out and give them a good...

    Water Dumping Into Cabin

I'd check your door drains too. I found out the hard way that my firewall drains were plugged last year, and at that same time discovered my passenger door drain was plugged. Gallons of water came out. Turns out the sloshing noise I was hearing in turns was not my water bottle, but my door...

    Melling M340HV oil pump thoughts?

It's about that time to fire it up and see what I screwed up. I did some searching and people seem to advocate for priming the motor with a garden sprayer to pressurize the chain tensioners and lash adjusters on a new engine build. While this is not an engine rebuild, I did replace the chain...

    Hole in Timing Cover

I had my timing cover and valve covers cleaned/blasted not too long ago and the guy cleaning them up noticed where one of the idler pulleys bolts in was popped through to the back side. It otherwise looks good, no cracks. Is there anything special I should do about this when I put it back...

    Melling M340HV oil pump thoughts?

Just a small update on this, I want to thank you all for convincing me to replace the followers... half of them on the drivers' side had play in the rollers. Lash adjusters were all rock hard - though I replaced them anyway since they came in the kit. I didn't pump them full of oil until they...

    Melling M340HV oil pump thoughts?

I almost wonder which method is riskier at this point. Doing something tedious 24 times definitely leaves some opportunity for error..

    Quick timing question

This was how I found it when I took the cover off and spun it for what seemed like forever. I took it apart like that, too. But when I put it back together I lined all the marks up. The crank, both phasers, and both chains are lined up with their appropriate dark links to their marks. Even with...

    Melling M340HV oil pump thoughts?

Welp, I have a confession. I put all the timing junk back together today, phasers and everything. After fighting with the decision of having to spend the money on new followers in addition to looking at the 10-day forecast and determining I have plenty of time... I think I'll replace them...

    Quick timing question

I haven’t even taken anything apart yet.. so I was thinking if maybe they were put on like that by either someone else or from factory. I wouldn’t think they’re “off timing” since they’re essentially lined up, but everything is one tooth to the left.

    Quick timing question

Yep it’s one link off to the left just the the phasers. It was hard to get a picture of it. I’m just wondering if this is in fact the “timing position”
