Will there will be a run on S197 cars shortly?

Too many problems with the 05-09 models, they are underpowered too. The 13/14s still are the best looking s197s and are the last years that Mustangs actually looked like Mustangs.
Underpowered, I could perhaps give you. But even 300-ish HP can make for respectable performance on a road course, with only a handful of wheel, tire, and suspension changes.

Define "underpowered". My 165 hp 5 speed manual Focus is faster than 95% of the vehicles around it at every intersection. A vehicles power is almost always inconsequential on the street.

If anyone really believes that ICE cars are actually going to be banned (new or for sale at all or even used) in 15 or so years, I may have a bridge to sell you. Manufacturing can't keep up with demand for materials for stuff we need NOW, let alone produce the staggering amount of material we will need to build the staggering amount of power production and power moving infrastructure to support just charging all these EV's everyone is so hot and bothered about.

Scale up the amount of power we will need to support and maintain our transportation needs today using electricity. Have a change of underpants with you when you do because you will shit yourself. Now, think about how that demand for transportation will grow in just the next 15 years.

It will take us 50-100 years of sustained planned development for just this purpose to reach that "goal".

We have seen brownouts well before anyone was charging an EV. So yea, I dont see ICE cars going away anytime soon

Look at what happens when it's hot and everyone is running their AC. Now add several million EV's being plugged into that grid. We'll have grid failure.

Elon Musk will fix that issue. All new Tesla cars will come with a small nuke plant installed at your house!

You mean because people drive slow near you?

Most people don't drive their cars as hard as an enthusiast might choose to drive his 160-ish HP compact sedan/coupe.

Trust me on this (we had a 1995 Mazda 626/V6/MT of comparable power and roughly comparable performance).

The coolest feature on mid-90's Mazda 626's were the oscillating AC vents. My buddy Doug had a 96 Dark Green 626 and the first time I saw those I thought they were freaking cool. I haven't seen them on another car since.

Understood, just clarifying this statement "faster than 95% of the vehicles around it at every intersection"

Norm if only you lived in Florida you’d know that doesn’t apply here lol. Whether you drive a Prius or Lamborghini, you drive it like you stole it here.

Probably some truth in that. Almost daily I honk my horn at some dope that is paying attention to their phone and not the traffic light. If I count to 3 and no movement happens I honk. Pay the fuck attention.

Also, I definitely drive harder than most others around me. No matter what I'm driving or what time of year it is.

Sure, but many don't want you beating them at a light. I don't get it. They drive 10 under, but are furious if you try to get ahead of them at a light. Many lights near me with center and right hand lanes marked straight. Why is it I can't take right lane and go straight, if the light is red, only one car is sitting there in the center lane, and both cars will be stopped at the light?

Our 2.0 EB escape does 0-60 in the 6's and takes zero technique to get it there, today's SUV's especially, are almost all AWD and have a lot of power, even in the mid level ranges many times.

Oddly, in jersey at least, I just found out recently it is legal to play on your phone stopped at a stoplight. Who woulda thunk??? But yes, very annoying.

This is the most accurate statement ever made about Florida. No matter where you're going or what time of the day it is, if you ain't ready to smash the gas then that's your ass!

They probably can't step outside their commuter-driving mindset. Don't let anybody squeeze you out of a place in line, but your speed is still limited, so squirting up to that speed and then backing off becomes ingrained habit.

Didn't seem to be all that bad a couple of years ago when we added mid-Florida to a two+ week long road trip. Away from Orlando and the beaches, though.

I do drive with moderate enthusiasm, but never feel like I should be hurrying any more than what I feel like doing at the moment.

During the recent heat wave here on the west coast, Alberta provincial government was pleading with folks to limit their electrical power usage. If Alberta can't handle a meager 25% increase in electrical consumption, how the hell are they gonna handle a 300% increase in consumption with 100% EV usage ??? Here in British Columbia, we also had a 25% spike in electrical consumption, but had plenty of reserve power...just. To convert to 100% EV, would require a complete 100% rebuilding of the grid, complete with 25 kv, 3 phase power going up every residential street...and quadrupling xfmrs on every street. A ton of nuke power plants would have to be built. It would be a 40-75 year mega project.

Outright banned, or just no new ICE cars?

Norm
No ICE cars sold here in BC after 2035. Between the green party, goof ball liberal party, and left wing NDP party, plus every brainwashed individual < 40 years of age, 'big oil' is..'bad'. Several hundred wild fires / forest fires just negated every ice car across the country. They all have this pie in the sky idea that we can convert to ..'renewable energy' in just a few years (with solar panels + wind). None of em can do the grade 6 low level maths.

After this recent heat wave, everybody and their dog is installing AC. 106F (in the shade) and sky high humidity is a bad mix. Deck railings hit 176 F in direct sun. When the smoke from the forest fires drifted this way, (2017) we couldn't open any windows in the home. I went outside, and my eyes stung real bad, and started coughing and choking in < 10 secs. Cars had their fog lights on at 8 am in the summer. So in goes the AC, done deal. And if we run outa power, I unplug the 100% EV cars across the street, piss on em. 2 x EV cars sucking 14 kw all night long, gimme a break.
