No. This is not a remake of “The Mummy”. It’s more like; what the hell was I thinking! I got the new long tubes “pace Setters” stripped and painted then wrapped with Titanium wrap and thinking it would be more durable, painted again. Never wrapped headers before. What a pain in the ass and both hands. Now that the heads are back in place with new valve springs and the headers are bolted up I can continue with the winter project.

Wrapping the headers might have been a pain in the ass but it was definitely a worthwhile exercise as underhood heat soak will be greatly reduced.
You did a pretty nice job too.

I have had Pacesetters on my car for over a decade. I had mine coated and I live in the desert but if I didn't I would think the wrap would help the longevity of the mild steel and help protect it against corrosion.

Looks like a pain in the ass but it also looks cool and serves a function! Worth it I’d say!

Actually the opposite is true- with wrapped headers, condensation develops under the wrap after the headers cool. This of course leads to rust unless they are coated as well. For my money, thermal barrier coating is the only way to go.

Ceramic header paint 2 or 3 coats then wrap them up. I've had my shortys like this for about 5 yrs now and 3 yrs prior same way but removed the wrap to prove that it hadn't damaged the metal in any way. 100 dollar bet and ill pull the wrap again in a heartbeat just to take the cash. But I would recommend some decent leather gloves to prevent the fiberglass from making your hands itch or worse for example having to use bathroom shortly after you have finished wrapping and very shortly after that remembering even if you wash your hands all the fiberglass isn't gone, ouch.

If you’re going to do it right, coat the inside and outside. Heat travels out of the exhaust and moisture corrosion is prevented.
