How risky is it to buy a 2011 V6 Automatic with 139 000 Miles on it. It appears in great shape and has been owned and driven for the past 6 years and 20 000 miles by a senior lady. I'm looking for an old man's toy not a daily driver and am very new to the Mustang world. Thanks for any help you make have.

You see a lot of these older Mustangs in the ads with close to 200,000 miles on them so if the price is right, I would think you would be alright. Just be aware that the resale value will continue to drop once you get over 150K or more.

The Cyclone 3.7 is a very reliable engine and the 6ro80 automatic is very good too. Have a mechanic look at it if you are worried but those engines can go well over 200,000 miles easily. You will probably want to mod it a bit but that is what Mustangs are for. There is more stuff for Mustangs than any other car and regular maintenance items are pretty cheap too. You are going to love your new toy.

Don't be put off by the mileage. As @Robert Larimer said, the engine and transmission in these cars are pretty bulletproof but the key is proper maintenance. A previous service history is essential but for any used car, I strongly recommend a full professional vehicle inspection. It's usually underneath where potentially serious issues could be hiding themselves.

As for performance mods, the first you should do on any V6 automatic with factory 2.73 axle gears is to swap in a higher ratio e.g. 3.55 or 3.73. You might find a junkyard 11-14 GT rear axle that already has one of those ratios, saving you a lot of time and money. It might even have the bonus of upgraded brakes.
Once you've done that, you'll have increased the driveshaft speed and a lighter weight aluminium driveshaft would be next on your shopping list.
The final drivetrain upgrade would be a higher rpm stall torque converter to get the engine into its torque band more quickly.
Notice I left engine HP/TQ increasing mods till last. On the V6 you really don't need to do much. The stock airbox is fine and no CAI is going to be a significant improvement. Therefore LT headers and a tune are all you really need since the stock exhaust manifolds are pretty restrictive.
