Hey all, I'm new to this forum but I have a 2005 Mustang GT. All original except a cold air intake. It has recently developed the little hiccup where every time I put gas in it, the knozzle kicks off. In order to put any gas in it I have to barely squeeze the trigger. I just had it in the shop and they said it was one of the two vapor canisters in the emission system around the gas tank area but apparently four discontinued that whole setup and the canisters are we're not even able to be purchased separately before. Has anybody else ran into this issue and what did they do?

Most likely need the tank replaced. That was a big issue when the S197 first came out.

Thank you again. My husband also works for Ford and built the Mustangs when they first came out but we had not come across this issue before so I do appreciate the extra detail and will let him know.

I would try to get a used EVAP system just to check this theory, they changed it from 08 on, the canisters have a square shape instead of round and look bigger.

Thank you. I have a new issue now thanks to the dealership. Apparently is part of the testing that the tech did at the Ford dealership they did a pressure test by doing a pressure backflow through the EVAP system and it blew gas out the neck all over my car. Not only did they not wash my car to get the gas off from it but now I have lost fuel mileage of starting at 2 mi per gallon as of right now so I have a call into their general management and the ownership of the dealership because it appears that from my research they may have now jacked that valve that they were pressure testing. Has anybody else come across this or heard of this?

So I have a question for you since you work at Ford as well and you said your wife had the same issue as my vehicle however you were able to get the fuel tank replaced. When the mechanic or tech worked on my Mustang they apparently did a air evac back flow pressure test to check the valves and vents and apparently it caused a pressure build up to wear gas came out the neck and splattered all over the car. My husband was concerned because he said nothing should have that kind of pressure going through the vents or valves in that vehicle's fuel system however since then I have continued to decrease in gas mileage as well so when I did a Google research it also stated that if too much pressure is put through the system in a reverse test then it can definitely wreck the valve or the vent vapor vent and cause decreased mileage so I just wonder what your opinion might be on that because now this dealership is fighting me and saying that they didn't do anything.
