Heading to LVD in NY for the first time in this car..I have raced more than a few times about 6 +years ago with my 90 GT stick and my 99 GT /stick..But my car now is an auto w/ 4:10's,Mishimoto radiator Steeda ft/rr swat bars w/HD endlinks, Gtrac/Panhard bars, and Steeda sport springs, a Vortech @ 10.5 lbs custom tuned, and a magnaflow o/r x-pipe with magnapacks 18x9 rims..I will be running my Sumitomo HTRZ II's, not DR's..etc, etc..This is definitely the site for pointers and advice, so dont be bashful 1/4 mile nuts, thanks for the help, we are planning on this Friday, so far about 14 of us including our tuner(Chris w/EFILOGICS and his GT500) and a couple of experienced guys from XX Tuning should we need them..

Its next Friday:thumb:...I guess my biggest question is manually shifting the auto without DR's..I think its going to be very difficult..Leaving it drive with the o/d off and stalling to about 2,300 rpm's is a given im assuming..

Yeah, this 5 speed auto does a great job as long as your tune is good. I actually get my quickest ets by leaving it in drive.

My tune is great, Im confident of that..I am going to make my passes in Drive and maybe 1 pass with me shifting(that might be uglt though:idea:)..I am hoping for low 12's on street tires depending on how hot it is out..

Congrats and have lots of fun! you will!

For the tire burnout, I put it into 2nd, then put it back in drive before staging, and leave it there.
Just keep it in drive and let it shift itself. If your tune's shiftpoints are good (right rpms and firmness), you wont have to worry about manually shifting it. Take advantage of that auto's capabilities and let it do the shifting for you!

Depending on your tires and grip, you'll have to work that out. Without better tires, you'll probably spin a lot...so make sure you maintain control!

You'll have to try a couple runs to get the right mix of rpms vs. minimal tire spin vs. bogging off the line. You'll probably end up reving up 1800-2500 at the light. If you bog too much, try a higher rpm. You'll get the right combination, but it'll take a few tries.

Dont forget, you can lower your rear tire pressures to get better grip; but if you plan on driving back on those same tires, make sure you fill them back up before you leave! I've used the stock Pireli's with 18-19psi and get a lot better grip than 21psi or higher.
[yeah, wtf, mine's a V6, but hell, racing is racing...FTW! ..its all fun..]
