Looking forward to see how this turns out. An 800hp DD is a lot to ask for IMO. I would start looking for a dependable dd...

Also guys if he is going to a 6060 you have to remember that the gears are a little steeper than a 3650. 3.55's would be a good place to start IMO. Below are the ratios for each trans.

6060
1st: 2.97
2nd: 1.78
3rd: 1.30
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.80
6th: 0.63

3650
1st: 3.38
2nd: 2.00
3rd: 1.32
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.68

Nice thread...:beerchug2:

#4 - if you are truly going for a wicked street ride, then you don't need anywhere near 800 whp to be 'wicked fast'. In fact, if you focus on suspension and handling the power for the street, you will kick the shit out of your friend's 1000 whp turd with 600-650 rwhp... I'd put money on it.

You are on the right track though, kid, and great job so far and good plans. Just don't bite off more than you can chew with your power goals. There comes a point when you pass the 'street' mark and the car starts becoming more of a 'race car' than a 'street car' - once you hit that point, you are screwed for a street car anymore - just try to keep that in the back of your mind when you are building it and when your builder starts using terms like, "well, we are going to need to add xxx to support this power"...

when you start to hear that - it goes down hill for a street car fast from there.

Good luck!
Im with you on that #4... on the street if you can make it stick it will be quick ;-)

Last night I met up with a new member that bought a part off me and a new bike pulled next to me I think 636 or 600 ninja thing. I dyno at just a little over 300whp see sig. He wanted to run and it sounded bad ass cammed out or something.

High first gear roll I get a lil traction and 2nd gear I get traction and the bike was a car or two behind me while i looked at the speedo doing 80 and he shut down. he pulls beside me... turns off his bike "That ain't stock is it??" lol I laugh say no and tell him he has a nice bike.

^Moral of the story. Get your set up right on the street and you will do great. 800whp is a lot and sorry bro but I've never seen 800 whp street-able for a long time unless old school carb on spray. If you had 450-500whp with less weight and traction you would be a beast killing those cobras. :beerchug2:

EITHER WAY good luck and I hope everything works the way you want it too. Also the girl was very nice to do the pictures :)

Ask the new member he was behind us lol. But the point of the story is I learned that traction on the street is everything. Cobras like to do roll racing because they cant get it too hook up until like 60-70 lol. Whats the point?

Get your car set up right and you will be happy. Hint look at Matt D.. Low HP and putting a hurting on some stout cars with his wheels up at the track lol.

i agree 100%. i would like to get a high horsepower setup to run the way i want it, but if not, ill dial back the boost, and once my drivetrain can handle it, i know that i can throw on a set of slicks and skinnys, fill up with some e85, and make 800 wheel.

I think it may depend on what year it is. The trans gearing in the gt500 changed for 2010 or 11. Not just the rear end.

Just check Mister Roper's signature to see how I feel about 'roll racing'...:deadhorse:

LMAO.... I'm ok with 5-40mph rolls but even 40 feels stupid to me. When I do those roll races im expecting a dig race. Such as we played for a minute..now lets get the real show going.

CK-If you had the chance to do it all over again for a street car. What would you build or do in the S197? I'm curious to the response due to the fact you have gone all out a couple of times.

uhh.... Why dont you put some money aside and geat a real DD then? 800hp? Why?

its your car man but putting out that silly of a number for a street driven car is kind of stupid to me. I know Jewish people have a lot of money... but damn... College kid pay or mom and dad pay? Not trying to diss you bro but thats a lot of cash to put into a car while being in college..

hey. like you said... its my car. i think i can easily get my motor to last around 80k miles at 700 wheel. im assuming you read the whole thread... even where i wrote that i would make around 700 pump (which is what i would be using day to day) and 800 on e85.

regardless. well see what happens. i would like to have some productive replies as to what i should do for my rear end.

thanks

Currie... period.

8.8 with 9" ends, a good yoke, heavy duty axels, billet diff cover, Racecraft UCA and you will be good to go.

Nope - sorry forgot that - if it staying a street car mostly, I'd go with a detroit locker - otherwise a spool.
