Whats everyone's opinion on rear tires for 18x10 AMRs, for a lowered 06 GT that sees daily driver use, however never bad weather (I have a POS F150 for that).

here's my setup:

06 GT
lowered on Ford Racing K Springs ( I think they are K)
KYB shocks in rear
stock brakes

I want traction, but I don't want tires that will last 2 months. This is on a 350ish RWP cammed 3 valve 4.10 geared setup. With the current Pirelli P zero 235s on 18X8 amrs i can roast em damn near to 60 mph.

Opinions?

Are there 18x10's on the front too?

What's your tire budget?

I have 285/40/18 Michelin A/S 3s out back and they hook surprisingly well for having 530rwhp/tq. 2nd gear hooks up no problem, 1st with some feathering. They have a 45k mile wear warranty.

Nah 18x8 AMRs up front with 235/50/18s or whatever the stock size is (yeah I'm too lazy to go check right now lol)

Budget is hopefully under $300 a tire. I'd like a tire I could muster a 2.0 or better 60 foot with and also get a little bit of mileage out of. I have P Zeros out back right now and with cammed 350whp 3 valve its like its on ice until 3/4 way through 2nd.

Hmm. That gets kind of tough, since those front tires are so tall, and most of the "sticky" street tires that you can get any kind of mileage out of are pretty short, along the lines of 26"

Maybe the 275/40/18 Pilot Super Sport or Bridgestone RE11? Those are definitely 2.0 capable.

Is it cold where you live? Note that many summer only, high performance, tires have very little traction on dry roads when temps drop below 40 degrees or so.

Continental DW... Put a set on the back of mine and went from roasting tires in 1st through 3rd to grabbing traction pretty quickly in 2nd and only getting a good bark out of 3rd. They grab so well it almost took the fun out of daily driving!

I will be testing this theory on a set of B'stone RE-11's (275/40R18) in about two weeks during GA winter weather.

I totaled my Honda S2000 on a 25 degree day with Bridgestone original equipment tires. Summer only. Normally the car was parked for the winter but I went out to have a new performance part installed. Going around a corner and without warning the car was gone. Like I hit black ice...but there was none. Both feet in and and wait for the impact. The car did two 360's before impact. Doing about 50 mph. I hit a tree and stone wall and was fortunate to walk away.

I would not do 275/40/18, because it will be shorter then the 235/50/18 you have up front and imo, look dum. I had great sucess with my Continental DW (275/45/18). That size is pretty meaty and tall, if that is what you like. You would have about a 27" inch tall tire up front and a 28" tall tire in the back.

The other size I'd recommend is 285/40/18, which is a standard size for the GT500. 305/40/18 would also look great but I can't confirm if you would have any fitment issues, however, I know people on here have mounted those with out any issues.

Also, any decent summer tires will cut 2.0, that is not a big deal (with the right driver mode). I cut a 1.9 on my stock tires.

Sorry life's been busy so I hadn't checked this thread in a week or so. Yeah this is a summer only car. I have a piece of shit 94 F150 4x4 that gets driven during winter or when the temps are low/wet/snow. I live in STL so we get some snow and a decent amount of ice. But no worries for the mustang because it never leaves the garage during those times. I guess I'm leaning towards a 285/40/18 Continental DW then...

what about the 315/40/18 nt05r? I wish they made the nt05r in 305/40/18 like the 555rs!
